    Hello,

My wife and I have been waiting on a Toyota Sienna for many months. We have a 2022 Expedition Timberline and a 2010 F150, 1 child and a baby due in a week.

I took my Mom’s Lexus in today for service at the Toyota place and I saw on Platinum and 1794 editions they had 10-12k off of Tundras.

I love Toyotas but haven’t owned one in 5-6 years. The Expedition left a bitter taste in my mouth. Fit and finish was bad and the functionality of the touch screen was at best barely manageable.

I’m seriously considering a Tundra. I’m curious of everyone’s opinion.

    Thanks!

I am enjoying my 2024 tundra. I put a bakflip x4s on it and have plenty of storage. Plenty of room for family on long trips and it’s extremely comfortable. Cameras eliminate any concerns in tight spaces.

I have seen something about engine recalls, but I thought I saw that Tundras weren’t recalled? I basically just saw a headline and am pretty ignorant. Is that what you are talking about?

KetMalice, I have a 24 with a build date of Jan 24. I have had several Toyota's and have had very good luck with them. That said you don't have to look far on the forum here to see there has been quite the uproar over the Tundra's new engine. This supposedly is being remedied and the latest has been a bearing replacement which everyone is hoping will put this to rest. As far as my Tundra goes the ride is great, wife loves having the room compared to the Tacoma and the Crewmax is great for the kids. Mpg is a little better then the last generation. Fit and finish are ok on my SR5 i-force though like others here have said, for what they want you would think it would be better. The Car Care Nut who is well thought of as a former MDT for Toyota recently purchased a New Tundra which he has a video on and also goes in length on one of his other videos as to the engine issue. Do I like my Tundra? So far it's been great. I admire it in the driveway every time I look at it. Took it on a vacation trip and had no complaints. Just wish there wasn't this engine thing to worry about. Check me on this but i believe the trucks built after the 3rd or 4th month of 2024 have the new bearings. Please do your research. With your family and a new addition on the way I would hate to see you have any problems with the truck. P.S. congratulation on the new baby. Wish you the best of luck in looking for a new truck.

We have an older Sienna, 2017 maybe, and I got the '24 Tundra Limited last December. Totally different vehicles. My family loves the tundra now, but my kids are now in college and I don't have to cary them or get them into car seats. The mini-van is ideal for all things family even though I don't like driving it as it just isn't comfortable for me. It is much easier to park and maneuver.

Yes, there have been some problems with the Tundras. 90% of the problems that have been reported haven't showed up with my 24. Less than 1% of the motors have a problem and Toyota is replacing them. Ever car manufacturer out there seems to announce recalls every month or so. To me, the Tundra is much, much more comfortable. Interior fit/finish isn't as nice as our Sienna which is the highest trim. Tundra tows the boat, van can't. Van is a grocery machine and nimble. Tundra doesn't love small parking lots or u-turns.

I've had my 24 since November of 2023. I still love it. It's not perfect by any means, but it's comfortable and has gobs of power. If fit and finish issues are a problem for you, then you won't necessarily like a Tundra either. Too much cheap plastic that has caused me some headaches. I'm a big squeaks and rattles guy and this thing can drive me as nuts as my previous F150s could. I'm not worried about the engine. If it fails, Toyota will give me a new one.

All that said, I love the truck, the design, the color, and full roll down rear window. Wouldn't trade it for anything else, except a Super Duty because I'm a diesel slut at heart.

I've had my Tundra for almost a year now and I love it. It's super fun to drive and I've had zero issues with it.

Love my ‘24 so far. I would say if you are in the market for a new one, I’d try to find one built in the last couple months, after they have seemingly figured out their engine/bearing/etc issue. Or at least they think they have.

Mine was built in May, honestly that seems good, June or July would be even more peace of mind.

You can use the Toyota VIN decoder to see the order date, or inside of the door has a build month. Best of luck.

I don’t think you could buy a 1st 2nd or 3rd gen Tundra and it not be a good idea. They are the best truck on the road and it isn’t even close. Try driving a Ram or Silverado back to back with it and you’ll see. I wish I had the money for the 3rd gen, but I also love many things about my 2020. I was just tboned and I doubt it’s totaled, but if it is, I will get a 2024 if I get a good deal.

I say go for it. The main issue I believe is price for some people. I get it. Totally understand the price point. The price point is just insane in general for trucks these days. I had a 2.5 generation platinum. Had it for 9 years. I loved the truck. The 3rd generation is just outstanding with the technology. I have a Limited and paid extra for the premium package. Fantastic. I can't imagine the tech on a 1794, Cap, or Platinum. Does it have a couple things that you scratch your head with why is that plastic? Yes. Does it feel really truck like? Not really. It feels like you are driving a Lexus. Urban Cowboy. In general that is the direction of trucks. No way I could go back to a fully loaded 2.5, and I loved my 2.5. I am going to do a lift and outfit it like my 2.5. It will look a little more rugged. But, Brother don't be the guy talking about I don't use artificial intelligence because I remember the Terminator movie. Go for the technology.

Do NOT get the Tundra unless you can stay out of the Sport and TowHaul ass mode. Those are addicted.

Got my '24 Hybrid in June and love it. Love it more than my '16 5.7L V8. It drives so much better than my GX460 - didn't know this one is so heavy and lazy until owning my Tundra.

    Hi, I’m Dave & I’m a Tow+aholic.
It removes all boost & torque restrictions & if I’m not mistaken won’t shift past 6th gear. Great around town. For extra fun, also turn off your traction control.

to be safe, not sure if it makes a difference but I'm planning to do an oil drain at 1000 km for my Tundra Pro which is brand new, just in case there are any metal shavings. Little cost up front and it may or may not make a difference until this figure out this engine issue. The Hybrids are not entirely immune yet after chatting with my buddy who is a toyota tech who has advised me he's seen a hybrid come in already with engine failure a few weeks ago.

I know!, it's weird... Every time I drive my 2024 Tundra it makes me happy. It's such a nice ride (no matter what trim you get). And, it still feels that way after almost 1yr of ownership.

If something happened to my 2nd gen I’d replace it with a new 3rd gen without hesitation. Firmly believe Toyota makes the best half ton available, and their response to engine issues on the 22-23 trucks has been above and beyond what the big 3 would’ve done.
