I just happened to look at my old 2014 1794 (Stock) and noticed how much higher the truck sits compared to my 2022 Tundra 1794. Am I crazy to think that this new Tundra sits between the Tacoma and the previous generation Tundra?

I can’t comment on the 22 vs previous generations, but I was very surprised seeing my tundra in the garage next to my Honda Pilot and the roofs were dead even… the tundra just looks so much bigger and taller. But it isn’t haha

Maybe an optical illusion. Toyota says the 22 is 78” tall and the 21 is 76” tall.
Honda says the Pilot is 71” so no way it’s dead even with a Pilot.

Could be. Our pilot is a 2011. So the boxier style. But stock wheels and stock tire size.

Let me clarify. I meant to say that the old tundra suspension makes the truck sit much higher. The wheel clearance is much greater.

The 22 does look like it sits lower. I believe the interior is a tad smaller too. I think Edmunds is the site that you can use to look up those specs.

The 22 looks larger but lower at the same time.

Ya I agree. Almost like the cabin got skinnier top to bottom

My buddy had this exact argument with me, so I Parked side by side my buddy at work.. definitely differences on wheel well clearances. The new truck does look smaller in appearance, but it is slightly larger parked next to a 2021.

when you pull up dimensions for the 2 years there is marginal differences.

I had measured the seats too and they’re virtually identical dimensionally. The key difference is the bolsters are later on the 22 so the flat part of the seat is narrower.

What about rear seat leg room: Distance from rear seat to the back of the drivers seat (with the driver's seat as far back as it can go)?

We didn’t measure it because we had a 22 CM and a 19 DC. I think the rear leg room is a bit smaller in the 22 but it totally depends on the driving position. 22 DC is pretty horrible.

How much ground clearance is lost on the 22?
