I have an ARE Z2 cap on the bed of my truck and I'm going to attempt to shape some neoprene foam as a seal between the cab and the cap. I already have the GG.Offroad camera relocation kit installed to move the cameras to the rear of the cap.

My question is...Can I remove the cab mounted brake/cargo light and leave those cables unconnected without any issues?

Reason I am asking is... The light housing is quite obtrusive and I don't think I'll be able to get a good seal with the neoprene foam on such an irregular shape. If I remove the housing, I'm pretty sure I can adequately seal the hole with some 12 or 14 mil paint protection film. Then I plan on using 8 mil ppf on the rest of the cab where the foam will adhere with some 3M VHB.

Be careful when you put the fine in between the cab and the cap it will possibly wear the paint.
