My gauge used to hit at the very bottom mark when at idle in the heat.
I put Rotella 15w40 and now it stays at a better place

Understandable. My recommendation to everyone noting low oil pressure has been to move up to the next grade and observe.

The real test is to put a psi gauge on and check what it really is.

You may not have any issues. Thr dash gauges aren't the most accurate.

    I've gone to 5w-20.

I'm pretty sure there was a TSB on oil pressure gauges reading off. @BubbaW posted it some time ago.

I miss the days of physical gauges and I've been tempted to install a fixed gauge in mine.

Yup. 2uz only calls for 6psi of oil pressure at idle so it looks low because it probably really is. I agree though that it looking that low causes concern to people.

Glad they fixed where the gauges rest by the time they got to my '06. I really prefer the later-year 1st Gen setup, everything sits near center except gas. (This is an older pic)

Battery gauge setup is still pretty weird though, until you realize the three lines are +3v, +5v, +8v, and it's a 10v spread between 9v and 19v, so 10v variation, thus sitting in the middle has you at 14v. But .... if someone needs to think that much about it, it's probably not a great system.
