    Good day,
What sort of info do you take from the oil pressure gauge? It fluctuates under load, make sense. But what else?

Oil pressure is directly related to rpm and temp. Warmer temps increase viscosity, which lowers pressure. Cold oil is thicker, so it you’ll see a little higher pressure at cold start up. While driving, the oil pressure increases and decreases with rpms, directly. All you need to know is there is pressure. If the gauge drops to nothing or below 1/4 while driving, it could indicate an issue. It’s really just a dummy gauge to let you know that you have pressure.

To add to this. There is a TSB that fixes the gauge being around 1/4. The TSB also fixes gas gauge accuracy issues. Someone recently posted what their oil gauge showed after a recall engine install and it was the same place (1/4) that my oil pressure gauge shows on my motor with 78K miles. I would say that the most important thing is to see is the oil pressure go up when load is increased. Mine goes up more than halfway if I am passing someone. Then comes back down to around the 1/4 mark again.
