Got my truck used several months ago, have been having several issues with my electrical recently and got it looked at. Was quoted 5 grand to fix everything with a majority of the cost coming from an oil seal replacement. Is 2300 too much for this job, my friend said he thinks he could fix it a when the snow melts when he noticed it changing my oil, not something I expected to cost this much. Should I wait it out or pay up and get it done now?

If the leak is not to bad, I'd wait. If your friend will do it for close to nothing I'd go that route.

The lower oil pan is pretty easy. Maybe they are quoting to fix something else.
