Purchased a 2018 Tundra a few months ago with 34k miles on it. I put about 3k miles on it since I’ve had it and before I’m ready to change the oil I was wondering what type and what brand is the most desirable amongst owners.

Owned my 2019 since new, now have 50,000 miles. For the first 40,000 miles I used Mobil 1 0W20 extended performance and the last 10,000 miles I’ve used Quakerstate 0w20 extended performance

Try some 5w-30 if you’re not in sub-zero temps. It quiets down the noisy valve train.

I grabbed another case of 0W20 TGMO yesterday while buying filters at the dealer. $42 CAD for a 5 qt jug, pretty close to any sale prices outside of Costco, and I didn’t have to go to Costco or make a separate stop.

So far, it seems to be slippery too, which is nice.

Is your Tundra color Cement by any chance? Mixing a bit of aggregate with Cement might give you some concrete evidence to your theory. :D

Whatever is on sale. Every 5k and dont over think it. You will never see the benefits of expensive oil, 99% of people won't or wouldn't know if it was even worth it.

Decided to start doing my own oil changes and called my dealer and ask what oil they used on it previously. The service manager said Mobil 1 0W20 so that’s what I bought at Walmart in the 12qt bag in a box for under $60. $4.50 for the OEM filter and $1 for the drain plug washer = $45.50 per oil change vs $109 @ the dealership.

In before @hagrid drops gold, people start talking about sending samples in for analysis, the subject shifts to engine life correlated to oil change frequency and subsequently @ColoradoTJ has to ban 3 people for going ballistic over oil viscosity.

    :p

Whatever this forum told me to do
folks will lather up over oil......and we still treat the transmission fluid like a step-child.

Kirklands for the win. 5w-30 for the quiet.

now, let's get this thread out of control....

Whatever this forum told me to do
What level of Jedi does one need to attain to acquire Amsoil at say....$3.00 a quart?

or is $10/qt the lowest level one could attain?

I’m pleased to have said something that made you laugh! I’m pretty sure I have read that Toyota oil bought in bulk by the service departments is manufactured by Mobile 1. I change my own oil in my Miata and the owners manual suggests Castrol if you don’t use Mazda oil….which is probably made by Castrol.
