I had an interesting issue come up. Took my truck in for the free 10k service. Got the truck back and the next day I checked the oil after it had cooled overnight. I found two things....1) the level was high, like 1 Qt high. 2) The color was dark like it was when I took it in. My first thought was, hey I'll just drain out the filter to get the level right. When I went to drain the filter, I found the countersunk allen bolts stripped.

So, I grabbed a hammer and drove in my allen socket to get them extracted. Pissed as hell, I then drained the filter to discover the oil was old. I collected a sample of oil, grabbed the bolts and went straight back to the dealer. They were horrified and gave me 9 Qts. of oil, a new filters, and 4 hex head non-countersunk bolts. They said "they don't have a part number on the proper bolts and you can only get them with a new skid plate".

So (and sorry it took this long to get to the question), does anyone know a replacement stainless counter sunk bolt so I can get it back to factory? The dealer is also looking but how hard they look is yet to be seen. Maybe some one here has had to replace those bolts and can help.

Thanks in advance. If you see a quick oil change guy looking for work on Monday, you'll know what happened.

They should be giving you a new skid ha! I am sick of seeing these threads about dealers neglecting a simple oil change :(

Take one of the old bolts to a hardware store and match it to one from those gazillions of trays of them they have. Home Depot may have some too.

Lowes hardware aisle, specialty fasteners cabinet. If they've only stripped the bolts, you're lucky. If I found the threads in the skid plate also stripped/buggered, they would be providing me a complete new skid plate complete with trap door screws. :annoyed:

Classic dealerships. I changed my air filter and cabin filter on my own. They wrote on my recent report that I need new ones. They don’t do shit.

Try a Fastenal store. They have a huge selection of all types of fasteners. Also try your local ACE hardware. Same thing there-huge selection of counter sunk head bolts. If Fastena ldoens't stock what you are looking for, they will order it in for you

I pulled one of mine and measured it.
    It is an M8 - 1.25 X 25MM BOLT

Maybe you can find some somewhere.
I don't think Toyota sells them unless you buy a complete hardware kit.
If you MUST have OEM bolts, I think this is the kit part # PT938-34140-HW
I'd check with @Roman to make sure that number is correct and the door bolts are even in it.

Otherwise you can try something like these, or as others suggested try a hardware store..

These black ones are nice and you'll have over 20 spare bolts if they lose them again..

If you want OEM without a whole new skid you can buy the hardware kit for around 80 bucks and it includes all the hardware for the skid. Have the dealer buy it and replace those for you. I bought a skid for my Taco once and it was missing a bolt so they bought me the whole hardware kit to replace the one as they don’t tend to have the ability to order just one bolt from that kit. I would assume the same for the Tundra skid. The tundra kit is about 80-90 bucks like i mentioned and includes your desired bolts.

    Appreciate all the help guys.

I normally do my own services. In fact, I did an oil change at 700 miles (added the aluminum filter housing), again at 5k miles but had the dealer do the 5k tire rotation (for a record of them doing their toyotacare). At 10k I planned to let them do their toyotacare again but got snakebit. When I get to 15k, I'll do the oil change and they can do the tire rotation. At 20k, I'll let them try it one more time or since we have history, I'll have them give me the supplies and I'll do it. I just want to show that I did their "service" while under the bumper to bumper. I'll keep my own service records for the rest of the warranty like I have for all other vehicles I've owned.

I like this dealer but their "quick change" kids leave a lot to be desired. I have no doubt the kid used a too small allen socket, stripped the bolt head, and then added some oil to pretend it didn't happen. The service manager can deal with the kid and as long as I can be whole, then I will be reasonable. Who knows when I need that service manager to bend my way later one. At the end of the day, we are all humans trying to get by.

    Again, appreciate the help.

I ran into this and ended up buying 12.9 grade coated in black oxide. You "only" get 10, but the quality is better or equal to the ones from toyota. It cost under $10 with shipping for 10. The bolts are manufactured by the same manufacturer as the ones that come with the TRD skid plate, but they are just coated in black oxide.

Thanks guys. This saved me a lot of time. Dealer stripped one of mine way back when I used to take it for free service. It finally refused to comply today.
