    Hi all,
I have a 2018 Tundra (5.7L) with 100K miles. It's never had any issues until now. I changed the oil two weeks ago and used Mobil 1 Advanced Fuel Economy Full Synthetic Engine Oil 0W-20. In the past, I'd always taken my truck into the dealer or to a shop that specializes in Toyota trucks for maintenance. But since prices are getting so high lately, I decided to do it myself this time. The day after changing the oil I started hearing a soft popping sound coming from the engine area. I drive around with the windows down a lot so I was hearing this noise while going slow enough to have no wind noise. It only happens when I step on the gas so I'm pretty sure it's an engine noise and not coming from the tires or elsewhere. I've also noticed that I'm getting the rotten egg or sulphur smell when I accelerate pretty hard on the freeway. I've never had this happen with this truck until right after this latest oil change. So I'm dealing with two issues that have popped up at the same time right after I changed my own oil. I've done plenty of oil changes on other vehicles in the past and never had any issues. I even went back and checked my work the next day and everything looks good. No leaks, the oil level seems to be holding steady. Any ideas what this could be? I'd appreciate any insight.

    Thanks!

Rotten egg smell is usually a battery sulfating for noise it’s hard to say with the description and not actually hearing it. Is the oil psi normal?

Rotten egg / sulphur smell could be bad catalytic converter. Would need more details on your oil change method to know if it's anything you did.

An oil change will not cause this. It’s all in your head. Go drive it, hard. It’ll clear itself out.

A properly done oil change will not. But we’ve had some on here drain the transmission pan and overfill the engine. We’ve had some pour fluids into the wrong openings. Taking some things apart or checking things, sometimes they don’t get put back together right. Worth retracing the steps and checking things again.

Probably a really dumb question. Is your oil level roughly in the operating zone on the dipstick?

Check into what @KNABORES said. It's happened a lot. A lot a lot.

Check your oil level after a drive and small warm up. Could be slightly low on oil or it’s one of those things that you go out and drive and monitor temps and gauges and hook up OBD to see if there are any recorded issues…other than that hopefully it’s a phantom noise that never returns… but a lottery ticket or play a Oiji Board :)
