My 2004 Toyota SR5 overheated and the check engine light came on with both VSC and stability trac lights. I know the other two always come on with check engine. I have been to two parts stores to get the p codes checked and in both cases they have not been able to get a reading. Both said that there is no power to the connector, and the meter won’t reed. I am wondering if there are any possibilities with a wiring harness that got melted in the over heat. If not, what else may have caused the problem.

I topped off the coolant and drove over 200 freeway miles with no problems or weird sounds or overheating. However since arriving home, the starting is a little weird. I starts fine with a cold start, but doesn’t like a hot engine start.

Is there anything I should check before I reset the check engine light? Is there a fuse that may have blown because of the overheat? If so, where is that fuse likely to be located?
Also, I would really like to find the cause of overheating. It happens on hot days at low speeds like traffic jams.
