Was at the dealer and saw the Black Chrome Exhaust tip. Looks like a really nice add on but boy it ain't cheap.
Found one OEM on Ebay new for $68 shipped. Does anyone have and like one or should I leave well enough alone?

They look fine. I have one in chrome on my truck. Google search will provide more pictures than you can look at to see how it actually looks installed.
One on Amazon is 5 buck more, but if you are pinching pennies roll the dice on ebay. I like amazon because it usually arrives in two days and if there are any problems with the items returns are easy and quick.

Heck, if the part was 80 bucks or less at the dealer I would have just let with it....then it would already be installed on your truck.

Here is one even cheaper- https://toyotaonlineparts.mcgeorget...MI-6CW3I307wIVE__jBx3I6grOEAQYAyABEgIZ9vD_BwE

There was another thread on this topic recently. Someone posted a link to a third option....matte black.

I have the black chrome and it's held up well for the 6 months that I've had it.... lol

No rust? I live in area that uses alot of road salt. I have a SX black truck so I think the tip would look good.

A small sample of time my friend....plenty of road salt used here in New Hampshire. But, I am retired and with Covid, it has only been driven a few thousand miles with the aforementioned exhaust tip.

Understood. I'm thinking because it's a Toyota accessory part it's possible it could be chrome over stainless if that's a thing.

From what I understand the OEM item is painted black over chromed steel. At least that's what I found on the internet. Hopefully it's a good job considering the price.

I think it would dress up my plain exhaust outlet on my all black Tundra.

Yeah all I know regarding the materials is what is listed on the vendor site. Seems to be a high quality piece. It is described as "corrosion resistant" so not an absolute guarantee.

Toyota's part description says the tip is Type 304 stainless steel. Black finish could be either plated or painted. They call it "black chrome". Research shows that black chromium plating does exist.

I have an LG frig described as "black stainless". The finish is really a clear coating tinted black (strange but true) over stainless steel. Any scratch, and it shows stainless. May be different for an automotive accessory.

No need to overthink adding an exhaust tip. The factory tips are good quality.
It is an inexpensive $70 part, if it starts to look bad in a few years just replace it with a new one. Cheap to buy and install takes 4 minutes.

    But...Toyota missed by a smidge.

Shoulda' stamped the "TRD" logo on it. Woulda' been worth about 3 hp. Beautiful and fast too! :D
