OEM TRD Marker Lights with Rave harness

Hey,
Is anyone here running OEM TRD Marker lights with the rave harness?
Have you had any issues with the harness? I know raves marker lights aren’t that great that’s why I’d want to go OEM from sparks and the harness seems like the easiest wiring route

Not too familiar with wiring so would be ok with paying a bit more. I just see some bad reviews for RAVE but I’m thinking it’s just there lights and not the harness

 

I bought the wiring kit. Pretty spot on if you don’t wanna dick around with it. Parts, I’d purchase direct from Toyota.

 

Thank you, I normally get everything Toyota as well but figured the harness would be the easiest without having to pay someone to splice a wire. Was able to score the heritage grille for 167 shipped.

I bought a harness from bmotorsports.com. Im going to tap the active shutter since it's power, ground and signal. The total was $51.66, but I figured that was better than having to splice something and deal with it later down the road.

EDIT: I gave bad info and it seems this does not actually work :|

Edit again. The picture has the black/red going to the wrong pins. I repinned it and it lights up now. Bad news is it's always on.

 

What plug are you referring to?

Is this plug that'll plug it right into the factory wiring harness?

 

How would this work? What would be the connection points? the OEM marker lights would connect to the shutter plug?

 

Assuming you have the active grill shutter (Not sure if they all do), you would simply unplug the connector for it, and plug this in to have a lead off the power ground into an oe plug. Then connect the OEM TRD lights to it since it's just a break out to harness power. So we're just tapping power and the Active grill shutter would still get plugged back in and work.

Any time the truck is on, these will turn on.

 

Ok, I guess what I'm trying to figure out is what the plug you're referring to is for.

 

Old thread but wanted to ask here before I start a new thread.
I’m going to install oem marker lights and I have question about the wiring. Am I crazy to think I can just cut off the plug on the harness and wire it to a ground and a 12v source?
those lights don’t need power for anything else and I’m just confused on why send $40 or so dollars on the Rave kit or even an abs female plug to connect to the marker light harness when I could just run 12v and a ground to them? Am I thinking wrong?

 

It’s seriously so easy to DIY. Watch a YouTube video or two if you have to, but you’ll feel pretty silly once you see what you paid for vs buying some wiring and an ad-a-fuse.

 

x2. I recently added the OEM markers to mine and cut the connector off to extend the length of the wires and connect it to my sPOD. No in-line fuse or relay needed. Now, I have the ability to turn it on at will, strobe, and dim them. lol
