OEM Tow Mirror Question

Hi Guys,

I bought a pair of OEM tow mirrors from craigslist a while back and finally had time to install them today on my 3rd gen. Install went great, all plug and play and all working, but when I got home I noticed a very key feature missing, power fold.

I started reading the following thread:

But that got me thinking, do I have power folding mirrors to begin with. Before I go back and start taking apart everything to get a part number I was wondering if there was anyway to tell if if the mirrors have the power fold function?

 

There's a little cap that pops off where the mirror hinges (at least there is on my non-power fold tow mirrors), so you might be able to see a motor or something in there. Did your truck have power fold mirrors before? If it didn't, then you're going to have to do the "upgrade" referenced in the link you posted, which involves some wiring/splicing.

 

If your mirror switch looks like this, your truck had/is wired for power fold.

If it just has the L/R rocker above the movement switch, you are set up.
