I installed my JL Audio 500/5 a little while back. Sounds great. But I finally decided to set gains by a DMM and not by ear and when I unplugged my rca’a for the sub I noticed the sub still playing.

Is the factory wiring the cause of this or could I have it wired wrong somehow? I may decide to just rewire everything without the OEM wiring.

i went factory wiring to a JL FiX 86. used the harness from tech12volts to match everything up. from the FiX, it goes to a TwK 88 then to the amp. works like a champ.

Mine works great too. But as I said, I unplugged the rca’s and the only set that disables the sound are the rear rca’s.

Does your truck have speakers in the dash? I have not messed with mine because the Infinitys drown them out. They are powered off head unit not amp

Yes I do. Currently it’s all factory speakers off my 5 channel amp. I will change the speakers out later. And when I do I’ll rewire the speakers.

But I was wondering why I unplug the rear rca’s then everything stops playing. And when I unplug the rca’s for the sub, the sub still plays

Do you have high level inputs on your amp?

Or anything other than RCA's, power, ground, remote turn on, and speaker outputs? If there is then most likely its high level inputs..

That would be the speaker wires leaving you headunit.

Figured it out. Never realized this amp can get the sub signal from the rear, front and rear, or independent signals.

I changed it to independent and now it works on just the sub rca’s from the deck.
