Recently driving, I’m noticing that when I’m braking that the steering wheels starts vibrating a bit.

Seems to happen more so when slowing down on a decline.

I’m wondering when you guys changed out your OEM rotors and pads and what brands you guys went with that would be comparable or even better than OEM rotors/pads?

Unless you have 60k miles or more it should be warranty issue?
Or its tire balance issues, oem should be top notch although when comparing my 20 Tundra with my 20F150, the best brake feel and response goes to the ford hands down.

OE rotors are good stuff. Either that or spring for some cryos. EBC yellow stuff or Hawk LTS pads make for a nice upgrade. Make sure you’re torquing your wheels to spec as well.

Almost 30K on my 2020 and my front rotors are warped. I can feel them pulsating when braking.

I’m barely reaching 20k and that was what I was feeling too.

Yeah I've been feeling it for a while too. Just haven't got to the point to replace.

IIRC, there's been some posts on here regarding early warping of OEM rotors.

I had the same issue at 28k…. I replaced my rotors and brake pads. I wasn’t going to go through the hassle with the dealership on it. Since I replaced them I have no issues.

I doubt the dealership would touch it anyway under warranty. They're wearable items.

You want to know why that happens? If rotors that are hot are cooled down too fast, BINGO..
Iron is not too bad with this but SS units are notorious for it.
Drilled n slotted are sensitive to it also.
Think if you are washing your truck after a lot of towing or heavy braking on a continuous basis.

Makes plenty of sense. But with normal driving though?
For me as example, I have normal driving habits. 50/50 city highway mix. No steep grades on a normal basis and occasionally towing a 350lbs boat trailer with a 100 boat lol

My truck just hit 15k, no pulsating at all. Just rotated tires yesterday, rotors are nice and smooth.

2019 with 41k, mine are as bumpy as Rosy Odonnel. Have to replace them soon.

Like all brakes if you drive them hard and just park them they will warp the rotor because the pads will cool at a different rate causing the rotor to warp. That's why they call it a cool down lap. I always use sintered pads (full metal) and the will wear the rotor down. Breaking is positive and will handle heat better. My rule is the third pad change needs new rotors. Stay away from stainless, it's a weak metal.

I tow 6k lbs through 8% grades frequently. Stock front pads lasted 60k and had 20% left. Still on stock rear pads and all four rotors. You guys should have learned to drive on a ‘68 Jeepster with no power brakes and drums on all 4 corners…

    Alot of them
StopTech cryo treated, slotted only rotors. I got mine through someone here who used to work for a company that sold them. :D

Unfortunately, brake shimmy/vibration is common with Tundras.

Major cause of that is wheel balance and warped rotors.
Their suspension joints are first class. Also, how many experiencing this phenomena are running very very large wheel tire combo setups?

It's my experience that warped rotors is an all to common problem with most manufactures front brakes. Of course proper wheel nut torque is important.

I'm at 8900 miles and no noticeable braking issues, hopping things stay that way for another 50,000.
