I’ve ordered the OEM Toyota headlights for my 2021 Tundra. You have to drill 3 holes on each side of the bed to install them. I was planning on using cold galvanizing spray and paint to protect the exposed metal after drilling, but after reading the instructions, I think it just uses a sheet metal screw that bites into the hole instead of a nut and bolt.

Can someone who has installed these confirm that it does NOT use a nut on the back side of the screw? If not, I wonder if a small machine screw with a nut can be used on the other side so the hole can be better protected and not rust.

    Thanks for the help!

I don't have this mod but after you screw it in with the sheet metal screw I would still pull it off and spray it. Hopefully someone will chime in with an answer. BUMP

Yeah I got cold galvanizing compound, primer, and touch up paint. My plan is to do the spray them on in that order. I just really don’t want put a sheet metal screw in after that, I’d rather fish a nut up on the backside with a flat washer and a lock washer and not have to worry about it every rusting in the future

You can do it if you can reach it. I agree would definitely be better than a sheet metal screw.
