I have had this ongoing issue when I would put my truck in reverse or drive my OD drive Off indicator would illuminate on my dash. This morning I chased down what was causing it. So I first had to remove the column covers that sit behind the steering wheel off which was very easy. A total of three screws needed to be removed, one under the column cover and two on each side of the steering wheel. To access these you have to turn the steering wheel all the way to either side to access these. I found that once this is done you apply pressure inwards on the columns and they unhook from one another. Be careful as they are plastic. Next was inspecting the wires. The wire coming out of the shifter was easy to locate and was resting on top of the steering column. There was a little barrel shaped keeper when in place it suspends this wire over the column. When unhooked, it caused it to make contact with the metal steering column. I located two places in the wire where it had rubbed through the rubber coating on the wire about the width of a small fishing hook. I wrapped this area with black electrical tape and placed the barrel keeper back in place. I did a couple of test runs and it seems to have Eliminated the problem I was having with the OD off illuminator coming on when shifting into gear. I just wanted to post this incase anyone was having this same issue and try this before replacing wires.

Cool, was just curious if it was a new thing.

I believe @BubbaW has posted a better video around here that shows a more-concrete solution than the one that's linked. There's a thread over at TundraSolutions with a picture walkthru that would probably be good to PDF out and snag.
