OBDII reader for trans temp

Does anyone have a recommendation for a code reader that will accurately display the trans temp (Operating Temp) for fluid refill procedure?

Veepeak and OBD Fusion app with enhanced diagnostics worked with my 2012.

 

that’s what I used. Worked great. Gives pan and torque converter temps

Setting this up right now. Takes a while for scanning everything.

 

Veepeak (the cheapest blue one) and Car Scanner ELM OBD2 (free app). I just did my ATF spill/fill a few weeks ago and it worked perfectly.

 

Received the Veepeak OBD check BLE + and downloaded the OBD Fusion app and purchased the enhanced features, hooked up fine, but can't locate the trans temp feature. I would like to copy Knabores setup that he displayed in the thread, but I am evidentially too inept to figure it out. Any help would be appreciated.

I believe it'll just say AT temp 1 and AT temp 2. Been awhile since I set mine up.
You have to rename them you like.

 

Also, I believe you have to connect to Network A (the one that has the engine amd transmission diagnostics) to see it. If I remember correctly...

 

Mine does not display a Trans temp for some reason

They should be there, hiding somewhere. Wish I could be more helpful. Been awhile since I did it

 

Trans temps need to be done in manual PIDs.

 

I didn't have to manually do them myself. They should be included in the Toyota extras

 

this is what mine looks like

 

Hold, on I'm going to do a step by step for you. I was able to access my settings.

 

1. Select Dashboards
2. Select Menu
3. Select Add Display
4. Add display.
5. Select gauge. Hit next.
6. Pick gauge color.
(Pics start from here)
7.Press where it says PID.
8. Hit where it says Toyota, Lexus, Scion.
9.Hit where it says Engine and electronic controlled transmission.
10. Hit the A/T oil Temperature 1.
11. Then repeat to do all again for the A/T Temp 2.

I believe AT Temp 1 is pan temp. And AT Temp 2 is torque converter.

 

looking to do this very thing when my adapter arrives. Thanks! just downloaded the Fusion app and looking it over. I'm guessing the Toyota 2005 Enhanced Diagnostics is what I need for the 2005 Tundra and the 2006 Enhanced for an 06' Tacoma.

 

It's a great app. Works/displays on Carplay, too. Which makes it the best one, in my opinion.
