Does anyone have or know of a obd2 scan tool for gen3 tundra that shows tranny temp?

For other vehicles I use the OBD Link MX+. But for some reason they haven't updated to read out 22+ Tundras. Hopefully its imminent.

Careful with the dongle, do your research. I have had 3 different inexpensive dongles cause issues with a GM vehicle, appears to be spewing noise onto the canbus. Occasional connect was ok, it's when left on the port that issues arose.

I have the Carista and still in the free month trial. I’ll check shortly and see if it gives trans temp. I have only used to to turn the fake engine sound off so far but didn’t mess around with it much after doing that. Will keep you posted.

edit: just confirmed it will give you live trans temp. But you would need to open the app and check it.

Just purchased Carista and downloaded app. I don’t see any options for trans temp? What am I doing wrong? Just wanted to bump an older thread here. Been reading a lot about types of dongles to get and what they show. Thanks.

I used my Carista to get the trans temp for a fluid change on my wife’s Lexus. During my one month original subscription, I also confirmed that it provides the trans temp for my 24 Tundra.

Sorry, meant to ask. Which Carista do you have. It appears there are two types. One apparently provides more info?

I got the $39 version about a month ago. I used the free mont subscriptions to tweak the seatbelts and AC.

I downloaded an app, Car Scanner ELM OBD2 and it easily connects to the Carista. I have it set to Toyota OBD-II / EOBD ~2016 - Present CAN + Extra sensors and it reads something for Transmission temperature. It is a neat app, can log values while driving but it is a little clunky to figure out.

I have not tinkered with the Carista App, but it did just tell me there was an update.

Just an update. Purchased Carista EVO, and man, you can change a lot of things, but you can also see tire pressure, trans temp, time engine has been running, coolant temp, and many other things. All through the Carista app. I never used another app. Made a few changes last night. AC change, seat belt chime for each seat, windows down with long press of remote. You can even change the HUD, but I'm still figuring that out. Thanks again everyone!

Do you have to keep paying for the Carista app though to be able to see trans temp etc.?

Yes, I believe you do. You'd have to pay to do anything with Carista after the free 30 days.

I did use Carista to make to changes, but like sandiegosteve, I've been using Car Scanner to get the trans temp and other parameters. I did pay a one time fee but if I remember correctly it was under $10. I think it worked for a few months for free but then had to pay. Not bad for the money though. Just FYI in case you don't want to pay the subscription.
