I’m long time Toyota customer. I am making the switch from sedan to truck. This truck will be driven a TON as a commuter, but will be my weekend warrior for trips to the dump, hauling building materials for small to medium household projects, and hopefully more camping, which will necessitate the ability to tow.
I do have active kids, so I want a comfy and cool ride for them. I want to be able to park in the garage.
My commute is mostly freeways, but can be as much as 200 miles per day, and I do want to be comfortable. I live in the PNW, so I will see rain, occasional ice and snow.
To this end, I have chosen an SR5, CrewMax, short bed. I have added the TRD Off road package, which seems to be very popular in this area, and as you all know adds a suite of desirable accessories. I will add leather and heated seats at the time of purchase. I have chosen the 5.7 liter V8.
I’m totally aware of the less than stellar fuel economy- I am fortunate that, at least for now, it is not an issue for me. If I find I am needing a bed extender, I’ll get one down the road.

I am ready to buy- but are there any changes I should consider before I finalize everything?

Thanks for your wisdom, and I look forward to doing more than lurking on the site!

Bigger fuel tank is something I'd consider for you.

With that much driving i'd make sure to have really good commuting tires vs. maybe an A/T option.

    Welcome from CO.

CM will give plenty of room for the kids and enough bed space for hauling camping gear (I speak from experience). What you have chosen if more than what you need, so you're good IMO.

Just get a white one; they are faster than all of the other colors combined.

Welcome! X4, or however many on the 38 gallon tank. If you plan on adding any Toyota accessories, try to get them to give you a parts discount. I ordered tow mirrors and Pro grille when I bought mine. BTW, I highly recommend the tow mirrors. They are an easy upgrade, great for towing, but even if you don't tow, they eliminate blind spots.

Yeah, the 38 gallon and the LED headlights aren't standard, make sure you get them with the correct packages.

Thanks for the welcome and all the replies! Bigger gas tank is a must- agreed.
I will consider myself warned that the white trucks are faster, better, and luckier than the rest. The spouse-o-meter landed firmly on Magnetic, and I have to keep the peace. Folks with the white trucks can wave at me as you pass!

Thanks again, and keep the must-haves coming.

With the SR5, I believe it’s the “SR5 upgrade” package that gets you the 38 gallon tank. Basically, if you’ve got front buckets, you’ve got the bigger tank

I agree with all the others that White is the best color for a Tundra. Easily adds an extra 50hp.
