So, the local Toyota service department called me to inform me that my 10,000 mile services and other recalls are complete. Great!

Dealer also mentions that the cashier has a form they need me to fill out and sign, to notify Toyota that I have an after market lift on my truck!

Anyone else have a similar experience?

I haven't seen the form yet so I don't know what it says.

I wouldnt notify toyota of anything. What I do to MY truck that I paid for is none of toyotas business unless we're having a warranty dispute.

I'm just so glad I finally made it to two years of ownership so the stealership can stop harassing me everyday to bring it in for the "free" "service".

    The separate quotes was intentional.

I wonder if it’s cuz it’s lifted and they couldn’t re calibrate all the sensors on the grill so they just turn them off?

I'm not inclined to sign. Sure they can make a note in my file if they want, but not like they can keep my truck if I don't sign. I guess if it was REALLY important to them they might deny me future service ... yeah right!

Recalibrate and it works but don't want any responsibility if you wreck your truck and blame them.

I am guessing people stop using brakes when they have one automatic

Sounds about like the same BS dealerships pull.

I say don’t sign. If you do, wouldn’t be surprised if it comes back to bite you in the derrière.

I got presented with the form because I bought it in for service and switched to the pro grille. It required me to move the sensor. "It wasn't OEM anymore" - I have 1794 and now with less chrome. Well, they're willing to sell me the damn Toyota OEM parts (almost 800.00 later) - they didn't warn me then. Shit, it's their design. It's pn the Pros, what the difference? Not that it would matter. Pretty petty shit right there.

If Americans weren’t so sue crazy, everyone wouldn’t have to be so worried about risk management and liability.
I’m not sure I fault that dealership for trying to mitigate their exposure. Doesn’t mean that i like it or approve, just observing reality.

I had several email conversations with Toyota about that very topic, why parts made by Toyota, installed on Toyotas, by Toyota would cause my warranty to be void.
Never got a straight answer other than if the truck is altered in any way other than how it was assembled you can void the warranty.

Screw em, Magnuson/moss act folks. Lifted with OME vs Pro suspension, hell saved money for other mods.

While I agree with what everyone is saying about the compatibility, there is a reason most of the time they ask for a VIN if youre ordering parts for your truck.

But I don't have any problems since my best friend is the service manager at my dealer. :D:cool: He calibrated the sensors after the lift for free, and I never have had one false alert, and the adaptive cruise works perfect.

I picked up my truck tonight and I've attached the form they wanted me to sign. I redacted the Dealer info. so as not to throw them under the bus.

    My executive summary is this:
    • You have an after market modified truck. (In my case 2.75" lift up front and 1" in the rear)
    • Therefore Toyota will do the K0B recall but can't calibrate the system unless you remove the lift at owners expense.
    • Without calibration the PCS system will default to "off" every time the vehicle is started.
    • Owner is also recommended to not use radar cruise control.
I've not yet signed it. The Dealer claims the work was done however the system is not defaulting to "off". Who knows!

Wow! So they are saying that the WILL TURN OFF THE PCS??? Just because of a lift???

I would tell that dealer or Toyota you will sue them fr turning off a safety system haha Toyota should have to prove a lift causes a problem with the safety system

I sure am glad my 2013 is running strong LOL

Well that sounds like good news for all the haters of the PCS system. I recall reading quite a few posts where people want it turned off, but the dealer wont do it for liability reasons.

There is a thread about PCS issues that has a lot of talk about the dealer form regarding lifts. I signed it after the dealer did the recall cause I like this service dept so far. They didnt turn off mine or make it default to off.

I was told by my dealer when buying my 2018 that a lift will not void warranty and I have not heard of a form to sign. Purchased mine August of 2017. Had a 2014 XSP-X DC and the same was told then.
However, I had a 2016 Silverado in between my Toyotas and it had a 3.5 suspension lift and they voided my warranty after the struts and steering box went out at 19,000 miles. Never offroad. No Chevy dealer would touch it under warranty. GM was having issues with those problems on 2015 and 2016 models with or without a lift, but never made the recall list.
I proudly came back to the Tundra and have a 3/1...
