Good morning! New Tundra owner, just joined the forum. Installing a Kenwood HU, running speaker wires from HU to front and rear Rockford Fosgate speakers. RCA to sub amp with Infiniti sub in a box from James Taylor.

I've been looking through the forum and the Google but have not seen anything about not just bypassing, but actually REMOVING the factory amp under the passenger seat. With the HU powering the speakers and the sub with it's own amp, is there any reason to keep the factory amp in it's place? Seems to me removing makes sense. Any thoughts appreciated!

    Welcome to the forum.
I guess you could use the amp bypass install harness and literally bypass it without installing an amp.

Just connect the correct speaker wires and cap off the unneeded leads.

I already ran new speaker wire and spliced it into the Kenwood wiring harness so the bypass isn't an option at this point
. Just want to make sure the amp doesn't control anything else before I just leave it out....

Finally got the beast back together, without the non-jbl amp installed. Sounds great, but the passenger airbag is not active and the seat belt light is flashing (but no dinging). I have to head out of town for a few days, but when I get back, I'll hook the old amp back up and see if that resolves the issue. Meanwhile, I'll keep checking in on the thread to see if anyone has any other ideas.

I would imagine you already checked this.. make sure the harness under the passenger seat is completely fastened.

^ I'd think this is the issue as well.
Those airbag connectors can be a little tricky to secure..
