Hey all, glad to join yall on here as I have used this forum as a guest many times but finally joined.

Issue: NON FFV, new battery, new spark plugs. When cold, takes 2-3 different tries to get truck to crank. Sometimes just a stumble when it cranks, other times its a real struggle to crank and when it does, get some white smoke and a strong fuel smell. Sounds like my 86' Chevrolet when it cranks. Truck turns over fine, just doesn't fire.

I've seen many threads on this but with flex fuel trucks, mine is NOT. I am assuming its probably all related between the different motors but the TSB's I have seen are only for the flex fuels, am I missing one? TIA.

Did you ever figure out what the issue was? I'm having the same problem.

No, unfortunately I have not. Still struggling in the cold but haven’t really had it looked at either.

That's where I'm at. Lol If I find a solution to our problem, I will write back to you on this message board.

I would probably say battery, what does the sticker say on the battery? or what does the numbers on the manufacturer say? Since "new" batteries may be old by sitting on some counter for 6 months to a year or 2 before being sold. White smoke may be normal as cold weather and hot exhaust will make it more obvious. As for fuel, maybe go somewhere else for gas and drop a bottle of seafoam on there and see if it makes a difference. Also check your coil pack plugs and ensure they're fully seated as well as the bolts holding down the coils. Any chance they become loose, they will bounce around and lose contact and start misfiring. I know you took it to the dealership, but the techs there are human too and depending on workloads they may have overlooked something somewhere.
