    Hi guys,

Had the back window open this weekend for the pups and noticed how much the poly retractable cover flaps in the wind when closed. Not the biggest deal, but any fix for this? Can’t ultimately be good for the mechanical parts.

I had a Retrax on my 2005 DC and it did the same thing.
I couldn't stand hearing it rattle with the window down.

That is the main reason I didn't buy another one for my 2014.
I ended up with an Undercover Flex.

I had heard that Retrax fixed the rattling issue, but apparently not..:eek2:

Bought my Retrax in December and up till today, I have not heard any flapping or vibration noise coming from it.
Maybe they have fixed it or installers vary in how to install.
Are the noise makers NO RAIL or RAIL installations.
I purchased the unit that uses no existing rails.

Mine does not use rails. Have you tried it with the window down? The only time I really noticed any noise was at 50+. Not really excessive, it just caused me to think about the wear and tear on moving parts (rollers on tracks, slat connections, etc.) I’ve noticed the midsection moving in the past through the rear view window with natural aerodynamic effects, just hadn’t had the window open.

Yes I had the back open from San Jose to Holster, (about 50 miles) @ 70 mph, no noise.

    Morning all!

Pardon reviving this old thread. I'm new to the forum and did search, but didn't see anything newer on this issue. Last week I bought and installed the RetraxOne MX cover. Getting loud, consistent vibration from it, even when on a smooth road. Happens at 50mph and higher. I fFollowed the installation instructions closely so I'm not sure what's up. I contacted them directly and they are sending me anti-rattle tape for the rails which is supposed to fix this. Hopefully it will do so.

    Anyone have any advice? Thanks

P.S. first post here after buying the truck 9 days ago!

I don't have any advice, but wish you luck. Report back if the tape worked or not.

I have a 2022 and have a good bit of noticeable rattle with the rear window down. Curious if this fixed?

The fix was going with a BakFlip tri-fold. Their solutions were unsuccessful. Best of luck to you!
