Im probably in the minority when i say this but i wish this engine was quieter. Is the 5.7 just typically noisier than other v8 trucks? I drive a few dodge trucks at work on deliveries with the big hemi and u barely hear it but my truck has a constant rumble and occasional deep tones that sometimes vibrate inthe cab and can be annoying. And im running a resonator from dirty deeds. Is there a possible issue in the exhaust somewhere or is this just a typical 5.7?

Start with going back to using 5w30 and you will notice a couple things...everything is quieter and you may even get better fuel mileage...otherwise if you're already converted back to 5w30, yes, it's a noisier motor than the new ones...

I did use 5w30 on my most recent oil change. Perhaps more sound is bouncing off the aftermarket cat shield? I dunno

Solid point...if it bothers you enough, you could always sound deaden the floor, et Al. It would feel like a luxury German sedan...maybe. :p

Compared to my 4.7 and my GM 5.3, the Tundra 5.7 is a noisy engine. Nothing catastrophic but it makes a lot more mechanical noises than the others. The high idle when first started adds to that
