I have been considering making some simple upgrades to my truck’s stereo. I was considering a taco tunes amp and a simple speaker upgrade, but as I understand it the taco tunes amp is meant to replace the stock amp that is under the passenger seat. I looked under both my seats and can’t see anything other than the cable for the airbag sensor...is it possible that since my truck is a 2 door sr5 that I don’t have amp? In this case am I going to have to remove the stock head unit and run new wires for the amp and new wires going to the speakers?

Might be covered up with carpet. I don't remember if mine was. I did the taco tunes replacement. The amp is small try moving the carpet flaps if you haven't already.

I’ll check again tomorrow, but here was no bump or anything and I don’t recall any flaps.

I have sr5...afaik I do. The badges say sr5, I have chrome trim outside, power windows and carpet flooring. I don’t have an amp though. Does this mean adding an amp is more or less out of the question?

I have a 2012 Tundra Double Cab SR5, non navigation.
I removed my passenger side front seat and did not see an amp.
I checked under the driver's side and cannot see anything underneath either.
Checked back seats and nothing. So I am assuming that I have a amplified head unit.
I have removed the head unit and replaced the door speakers. Am in the process of installing a line out converter and tapping into the door speakers. Having a hell of a time finding a wiring diagram that matches the coloring on the wiring harness in back of the head unit. Planning on tapping into those wires to run them to the LOC to then run through the amplifier and power two 4ohm SVC shallow mounted subs that will go underneath my rear seat. I ordered the enclosure through tech12volts.com.

PS. I got a two day subscription ($20) from techinfo.toyota.com to find a proper wiring diagram but may be experiencing information overload!

What do you mean”adding a line o it converter and tapping into the door speakers”? I don’t understand what that means? I thought a loc went between the head unit and amp? Keep me informed on your progress please!

Taco tunes has a plug n play harness to run to the amp you're adding.

Yes, amp goes between HU and amp.

I decided to upgrade my HU. Just ordered the Pioneer AVH-2500NEX.
