Newbie with 06 Sr5 DblCab - Running boards needed for Short Wife

Tomorrow I'm buying a one-owner 2006 DC with 250K miles. Interior, exterior and frame look good according to pictures. Tomorrow I'll be seeing it for the first time and will most likely buy it.

The owner has been forthcoming about timing belt (and water pump) needed to be done, and I know it is one of the first things that need to be done. I'm going to drive it to my independent mechanic right after I bring it from Pennsylvania. What other things should I have it done? checked? I always replace the Engine Oil/Filter. Should the Transmission Fluid be replaced as well?

Lastly, please point me to a thread or a corner of the forum where I may find information on where to buy a set of running boards. Wifey is 4'8" and our little kids can use the help climbing onto this rig.

OEM running boards for me - I never much liked the look or clearance they stole from me - but my wife and kids needed em too. Once I got over the fact they're on there I use them 90% of the time. You could probably just start your search for some OEM take off junk now - the mounting of them is superior to the nerf type tube junk.

+ it prolongs that outboard ass cushion wear that every )(#@&%@# toyota suffers from eventually.

 

If I tried that move I suspect I’d get a beating I wouldn’t forget. Hah.
