my wife and i are already Toyota loyalists with our 2008 FJ Cruiser & her 2006 4Runner that we are looking to sale to get the Tundra. We recently purchased an Airstream Nest 16 footer, max weight under 5000 lbs. for flat terrain, my FJ has got that. But for going into & thru hills & mountains, i’m thinking of acquiring something more suited to handle that sort of towing through the mountains. Both of out Yotas are 4WD for where we live, which is on the outer banks of North Carolina. The Tundra we are looking to purchase will be used. A friend has the 5.7L big crew cab & swears by it. I myself am open to the openness of a cabin that large, but we really only use our back seat for our dogs, which are small. So the regular extended cab would actually work (although i really do not like that sliding window in the rear window). Anyway.....thanx in advance for whatever advice, suggestions, or comments to come!

We went from a '14 Runner to a Tundra. The MPG are almost the same, but much more power for towing and such. I do miss the Runner sometimes, but I get a kick out of the power the Tundra has when you get on it. The Crewmax has a ton of room, and we have growing kids so it's almost a no brainer. Parking can be somewhat a pain in the ass if you care about your truck not getting dinged up which I do. I can say that I would not go back to a 4Runner after owning the Tundy for almost 2 years.

Hey there from Virginia! Wish I lived on Hatteras Island, favorite place on earth. I would look at a Crewmax - more room for your little dogs to cruise in style! I have a supercharged CM which has exceptional towing power. You shouldn't really need a supercharger to tow, but damn it's fun on the beach!
