This is my first truck, and I've been drinking the 6112/5160 Kool-Aid. As I've been browsing this forum, I still have a few questions on this suspension setup. For reference, this will be on a 2014 4.6L SR5 4x4 with 85K miles. For the front, I'm looking at 6112 at 1.9" with 1 shim on the driver's side. For the rear, 5160 with CB +2 shackles (or equivalent). I like the idea of a preassembled kit from, for example, boss-offroad.com. There are a lot of options on the preassembled kit, and it comes with some parts that I'm not sure if I need. My questions are as follows:
    1. With the smaller 4.6L engine and smaller 26gal gas tank, do I need a driver's side CB shim to compensate for the Toyota lean?
    2. If I can get in spec for alignment, why would I want to spend $ for UCAs?
    3. What are CB bushings, and how will they get rid of bed hop?
    4. When would I want to consider adding a leaf?
    5. Do I need a diff drop?
    6. Do I need a brake line and ABS wire relocation kit?
    7. Do I need the optional billet reservoir clamps? Or are these just better looking ones compared to what they come with?
    8. Do I need front swaybar relocation kit?
    9. Do I need bumper shims? If so, which are best?
    10. Do I need replacement shackle bushings? Is this the same thing as questions #3?
    11. Do I need a carrier bearing drop kit?
    12. Given the age/mileage of the truck, is there anything else I should replace while I'm working on the suspension?
    13. Is there any practical difference between CB, Toytec, or BOSS shackles?
    Thanks in advance!

    1. Maybe, I am not familiar with the smaller gas tank.
    2. You wouldn't, stock UCAs are fine with a 2 inch lift
    3. Coach Builder bushings are for the shackles
    4. Why would you add a leaf if you are going with +2 shackles already?
    5. The are many debates about this on the forum, personally I don't believe in them but make your opinion after reseaching
    6. NO
    7. Just look better
    8. Most likely no
    9. Depends on what size tire and wheel offset you are running
    10. Same as #3 they come with the shackles from CB
    11. Yes, I think they are also included with the CB shackles
    12. Not necessarily, just inspect during install
    13. CB shackles are the beefiest

Agreed with pretty much everything said here. I also 2nd that you do not need a front dif drop. Have one myself, but if I had the original bolts I would have pulled it out.

Thought I should expand mostly on number 13, but a few others as well.

13: Coachbuilders are definitely the beefiest. Biggest issue with these is how wide they are. If you move to a tire size around 35” you will have issues fitting a full sized spare under the bed of the truck with these. If you look at the ToyTec or Boss shackles this shouldn’t be an issue. I think that is really the only negative on coachbuilders I have found in all my research.

    11. I don’t think they are needed. I run the Icon RXT leaf pack On setting 2 and my rear ended is solid, no shudder or issues. I will not be installing this unless things start to feel different.

You will find a lot of things are case by case. If your truck has he’d shudder, then install this. Same with the front CB shim, these are case by case. I run my Fox 2.5 coils set to the same preload and have no noticeable lean and I have the 5.7L. But some people do, can’t really explain this phenomenon.

    Good luck!
