New owner of a 2019 Tundra SR Double Cab, 5.7L, 4x4. I have owned Toyotas (4Runner) in the past. My last truck was a 2012 F-150 fully loaded Lariat Supercrew with a short bed with all the bells and whistles. This time I went in the completely opposite direction.

I knew I wanted a longer bed - the 5.5 short bed is just too short. The Tundra double cab/standard bed is in my view, the best configuration of cab space and bed space you can find.

I am looking forward to being a Tundra convert!

    1. I had a 4Runner, and liked the Toyota brand.
    2. I had a horrible experience with Ford, their extended warranty and my Ford dealer. I posted this story in another thread.

I'm really curious about your Ford troubles, searched your other postings and didn't see one where you described exactly what happened with Ford aside from saying your dealer and extended warranty let you down. Reason I'm curious is because I too just came from F150 (2013 FX4 Ecoboost SCREW) to Tundra. Had some issues popping up with the engine that Ford was NOT going to address, and lived with the slip yoke problem from Day 1. Had 120k miles on my F150, really loved the truck for many reasons but lost respect for Ford due to this issue knowing they would only chase it with my money and no real fix.

I bought the Ford Premium Care ESP - paid way too much for it because I got in the payment trap with the finance manager - that was my mistake. My model of F-150 (2012) had a slew of known issues that I also encountered common to F-150s at the time. First the fuel door spring broke - not covered under the Premium Care ESP because of how the part is classified and cost about $150 to fix. Then my rear defrost stopped working - not covered because the rear defroster is part of the window assembly and Ford told me the warranty doesn't cover window replacement (yes, many people joked about throwing a rock through the rear window). The last issue was the sunroof stopped working - the rails broke. All known, common issues that Ford should have fixed via a TSB or recall. Initially Ford would not cover my sunroof issue - but this time, I was able to get them to re-code the claim and get it covered.

In the past when I had issues with other vehicles and the manufacturer was not stepping up - the dealer would step up. Not with my Ford dealer - fell on deaf ears. I called, wrote letters to the dealer and Ford....nothing, nada, zilch.

So I was sold a "top of the line, there is no better worry free, full comprehensive warranty" that was nothing of the sort. Never again.

Wow, sounds familiar. I had Ford, while still under warranty, take the drive shaft down, clean the splines and grease it, took it in every time it restarted until I had no more warranty. It never really hurt anything but it was really f'ing annoying. Other than that the truck was near perfect until last fall while passing a tractor trailer on a 2 lane road - truck just lost all power while we were alongside it, quite scary. No warning. Took it in, they changed the spark plugs, it was fine for 2 months then started happening again more frequently. All kinds of stories out there about this, Ford denies there's a problem but is more than happy to start replacing parts on your dime. No thanks. At 120k miles on that rig, I feel fortunate to have had no major (costly) issues at all. Would've bought another Ford if they weren't so expensive and well, the reliability issues.....

Man that sucks. I agree, Ford dealers really don't care. Guess it's easier to not care, treat customers poorly when you have the #1 selling vehicle. Too bad really, it's not a bad product and if they'd just slow down and fix some things it could be great. Well, we're out now and hopefully the Toyota experience will live up to the brand hype.

Damn, that really sucks man. Hearing things like this make me feel like I dodged a HUGE bullet with mine. I wanted to keep mine going to 200k, that was the goal, guess I was lucky to get to 120k...
