Greetings all - Last December just leased a new 2018 SR5 Double Cab. I leased cause I have been a Dodge and Chevy owner over the years and have had issues with both so trying out a new (to me ) line. My issue is that the stock audio system really seems to suck. I have the balancer and fader set to as far right and rear as it can go, yet still seems to be coming from the center dash. Also downloaded the ScoutGPS app for my IPhone and it connected once and now tells me to ... go screw! Nor can I use talk to text from the steering wheel controls, have to use the phone then it comes over the vehicle speakers/microphone. The GPS and Talk to text have been tried both plugged in via USB cord and bluetooth. Is this normal for the Tundras? I have a 2016 civic for my commuter car and it has Apple CarPlay and that setup is awesome, was hoping for something similar. Thanks in advance for any input!!

Talk to text should work. Toyota does not have car play, it does have apple eyes free though that allows you to talk to siri.

As for the stereo. Yep. It sucks.

I believe the dash tweeters are powered off the head unit, and the door speakers go through the amp under the passanger front seat.
The stereo is crap, plan on upgrading it.

To all thanks for the Welcomes - Work the night shift, thus the late reply to you. I'm living in Maine working in Mass. Good showing of Jarheads here!! Also saw a few Sailors (squids), Army(dogs), and Air Force (zoomies) as well!! Thanks you to all of you for your service!! (Just poking a little fun, work with all branches at my current job!!)

Smoosh - Guess I will bring it back to dealer as even the apple eyes free doesn't work.
    Thanks again folks!!
