Hello everyone! First off wanted to say I’m happy to have found this forum. I noticed it referenced on FB pages several times. I’ve been primarily a GM guy my whole life, mostly square bodies. Three years ago I purchased a beautiful 2012 Texas Edition Silverado. I’d always heard how good the 5.3 Vortec was when everyone started swapping them into square bodies. So I assumed i was getting the same thing. Shortly there I found out what AFM/DOD was and the trouble it caused. Second day I owned the truck collapsed lifter. Fast forward 3years and it’s happened again. No more for me, so I purchased my first Toyota Tundra CrewMax and am SO happy! Looking forward to being involved in the forum going forward.
I guess I’ll start off with a question that I have already. If I’m not supposed to ask in this thread please let me know and I’ll post wherever it needs to be.
Question: I noticed the sheet stated I had the 26 gallon tank after I bought it. My fault for not verifying but being new I thought all had it after 2016 (I think)? But I signed up on Toyota.com and ran a Carfax to find out more information. Also read on a forum somewhere that if Tundra has bench seat that it would be 26 not 38 gallon tank. Toyota VIN description says that my truck has 40/20/40 seat which it does not. It is bench with full center console and shifter. I’m really confused by this as I’d assume the previous owner would not have changed all of this out to have the center console, seems like a lot of work and money. Am I seeing or understanding this incorrectly? I know if I run the gas down to empty I’ll know how big the tank is, but the seat info on the VIN description is throwing me off big time.
Thanks for your help in advance and I’m so happy to be a new Tundra owner!!!

Welcome. Look under your truck at the fuel tank. Two straps holding it up is the 26 gallon tank. Three straps is the 38 gallon tank.
However, with the Sport package, you have a 38 gallon tank.

Wanted to come back and report that it does have the three straps. I know the other for sure way would have been to run it down to Empty and see how much it cost to fill back up. But I don’t like to let my tanks get under half if I can help it. Thanks again for the welcome and the tip!

You're welcome. As a fellow Sport owner, I knew you had the 38 gallon tank, though.
When I bought my Sport to replace my other totaled truck, (I purchased from out of state and was having it delivered) I was concerned about the tank size, too. And, since I didn't physically have it available to look under, I had a hard time verifying it had the large tank. Fortunately someone told me all the Sport's do.

Welcome from FL. I am also a first-time Tundra owner (2021 DC). I also came over from Chevy, but from an 01 with the 'good' 5.3L. I was just ready for something newer.
