Finally made the switch from a Duramax to a Nighshade Tundra Limited. Love the truck until antifreeze was everywhere and it was leaking all over. Turns out the truck came out of the factory with a bad heater core. They have to pull out the dash to fix it. Not a good start for the 'reliable' Toyota. 541 miles and in the shop for a week.

Very sorry to here that, the truth is that no manufacturer is perfect, hope they take good care of you, and welcome to the Forum.

I agree. I have two friends one with a T100 with 409,000 and another one that just rolled 300,000 on his Tundra. Both could not believe that it happened. They have never done anything, but general maintenance to both of their vehicles. Service Manager said he had been there 11 years and had never seen this in a Tundra or Tacoma. Oh well, I will live. Hope to learn something from the board. Talk to you guys soon.

    Welcome from NorKal...
Small speed bump.. I got a stack of things that went sideways within the 1st year in 07 and I'm creeping on 240k miles with basic maintenance... 5.7l

That's to bad. My money is still on Toyota over any Domestic vehicle when it comes to reliability.

That sucks, but from time to time these things happen, let em fix it, and move on from there, I've had corrolas, 4runners, tacomas, tundras, never had an issue with any of them, but no matter the manufacturer a few come off the line with issues, sorry you got one of the few.

I would go over it with a fine tooth comb when I got it back. Pulling the dash is a pretty major thing in my book. Check for rattles, make sure all the pieces are back where they belong.

Perhaps even take the mechanic or service advisory for a test drive after the repair.

If I ever have repairs like that, it's not asking to much to have the mechanic go for a ride after that. I agree with the posts above. I just bought my 3rd Tundra, and I'd be bummed, but not discouraged. Great trucks! (btw, nothing wrong with any of them ever)

I would tell them to exchange for a new one, I’m sure it’s gonna have wire problems down the road

Hello all, along the lines of the AC Heat not working on my 2016 Tundra - I brought my truck into Toyota and they said it looked like someone else tried to fix it, but I have no record of that and the heat went out only recently. Toyota stated that the wires and pins were damaged and required repair (See the picture of wire damage they sent me). I am a little suspicious this was an original factory error. I will admit I bought the truck used with one owner before me, but it feels like this error should have shown up years ago. Finally, Toyota replaced the fuel-pump and dropped the tank a couple of years back, I'm not sure if that would impact any electrical i the dash on the right side - unlikely I suppose. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated!
