I’ve been looking for a new Tundra since the ‘22’s. The only issue was that i’m a Disabled Vet and would require it to be fitted with hand controls to properly drive it, which would cost even more. After 3 years of trying to convince the VA that I qualify for their Auto and Adaptive Equipment Grant, the finally agreed. That’s $24k to help with the truck and they’ll also pay for all the required adaptive equipment too. When I contacted a dealer 230 miles away about a 23’ blue Platinum Hybrid with the advance package the told me it was in transit but sold already. He told me that the 23’s have been officially replaced at the production line with the 24’s so if I place a deposit for an allocated Tundra as soon as possible if I wanted one. I asked him if they have any ideas of what they were being allocated and when it should be here. He told me he knows of three hybrid Platinums that were already allocated. Luna Rock Platinum hybrid w/ no options is in transit for Sept delivery. White Platinum hybrid w/ TRD Off-Road package in build phase due in 4 weeks and a Supersonic Red Platinum hybrid w/power running boards and HUD in build phase due in 6 weeks. I told him that my #1 color is Red and I want the HUD for more info since both of my hands will be in use when driving. I told him that I’ll only place a deposit for that Supersonic Red truck if it’s confirmed to be allocated and time frame. He had his boss check and it’s currently being built and will be there in October. He also told me that they would deliver it to me for free since I’m within 250 miles of them. I put the deposit down for it. I really hope he was not messing with me and hoping to get that truck just to get me to place a deposit because that is the exact truck I wanted.

Now, what should I do to it once it gets here? Are there any accessories that I should have them add before they send it out to me? Should I get the spray in liner at the dealer or go elsewhere? I’m also looking to get the RetraxPro XR and then I’ll eventually build my own Rack with Aluminum extrusions. Should I get the bed extender since it’s a 5.5’ bed? I’ll be transporting a lot of lumber since I don’t work and have picked up woodworking to keep myself sane. What else should I do? Thanks for all of the information on this forum. I’m excited to add my own input towards this site. Thanks!

Glad to hear you were able to find the truck you want. Congratulations!

It may already have the spray-in bed liner. Many dealers add it on all trucks since it’s a popular add-on. If not, I would find a local Line-X dealer.

Can't help with dealer accessory question 'cuz I've never bought a brand new car in my life. :rofl:But I hope you get exactly the truck you want, and thank you for your service to our country. :oldglory:
That's cool that the VA will help outfit the truck for you, it's too bad it takes 3 years to convince them.

Welcome from LA (Lower Alabama)! The bed extender may help if you buy a lot of lumber. As for other options, it all depends on what you want/need. This site is by far the best place to find out what all the options are, OEM and after-market.

Thanks guys! This is my first brand new vehicle. Bought the wife new Mazda3 right after boot camp. Then a Subaru Outback after 2nd child and finally a Highlander after the 3rd. She did not want a truck because we needed to make sure it would fit our family of 5 and my service dog comfortably. Once we sat it one she gave in. Not to hard since we’re all super short. This will be my first truck. Never used them much. Only driven a few but I knew I wanted one.
How much would a Line-x spray liner cost me? Should I get the ceramic paint protection or am I being paranoid since it’s so $$$?

I don't know about a liner in a Gen 3 truck - don't they already have composite beds that won't rust? Regarding the ceramic, I think it is well worth the money (but shop around and don't pay too much) but you need to understand what it is and what it isn't. It makes cleaning the truck much easier - especially cleaning bugs off. However, it will NOT prevent rock pecks or chipped paint. It also makes waxing redundant.
