Hello all! I've had my Gen 1 Tundra for almost 18 years now. It's easy to keep track of since I bought it when my oldest daughter was a baby and I started my first business. Through the years it has been a faithful companion and I hope to keep it running for another 20 years. Last year I finished several months of extensive restoration on my 00 Tundra, including a much needed full suspension replacement, entirely new power steering system, rust mitigation, and replacement of the front-seat upholstery. It's the start of a journey to get this thing into as close to new a condition as I can make it. I'm looking forward to joining a community of like-minded enthusiasts!

Nice! Sounds exciting. How bad was the rust? Do you have pics of the new upholstery?

I had pretty extensive surface rust about everywhere, but fortunately no frame rot yet. I used a needle scaler to get rid of all the loose stuff, then sprayed a light coat of rustoleum rest reformer followed by a heavier coat of black cosmoline. So far the treatment is holding up very well. The rear axle and front diff (removed as a part of resealing the oil pan) I scaled, wire wheeled, and painted with POR-15 followed by black cosmoline. I figured the best time to do all that rust treatment was while I had the suspension all removed anyway (that was sure a project).

I'll take some time to put together some pictures of the rebuild so far, including the upholstery. I found a company in Texas that did a perfect reproduction with original factory leather - color matching and everything.
