Hey folks! New Tundra owner. About 1 month ago, I purchased my 2nd Toyota truck, a 2008 CrewMax SR5 5.7 4x2. Had 149K miles at time of purchase, and has about 150.5 on it now. Purchase price: Just over 11K for the truck + $1500 for a warranty through AUL.

    The good:
    • 41 service records all performed at Toyota Dealerships, and it's never been owned anywhere other than NC.
    • Checked it over hard for rust, found virtually none except on the bolts in the bed.
    • Leaf springs all in great shape
    • No major damage ever done except a ding in the tail gate.
    • The tow package was included, and you can tell it's towed plenty due to the finger wear on the tow button lol.
    • Interior is in great shape, but the drivers seat could stand for a little reupholster (pad near door is a little worn/rough).
    • I purchased a warranty through AUL as they seemed to be the most reputable I could find at the time of purchase. 36K miles or 3 years, so any major major issues I'm not concerned about.

    The bad:
    • Radio would constantly turn on and off at random. Not an issue, tossed a new Alpine in there, good as new.
    • Tires are likely around 50% tread life, so they'll need replacement in the near future.
    • Breaks JUST started to squeak in reverse for a second or 2 when you first start moving for the day, but that could just be oxidization from the humid NC weather, idk?
    • I hear a noise from the driver side bank of the motor. I don't know how to describe it. When hearing it from outside the truck, it sounds like an exhaust leak, very hissy, but specifically when 1 cylinder fires, not constant. I think I may have a crack or a leak in the exhaust manifold. Of course I did NOT hear this the day I test drove the car, also the engine does NOT make the sound when not under driving load. Even holding breaks and reving the engine in drive produces no audible sound. Here's a link to the only audio I can gather:

Would love to hear any feedback you can all provide. Thoughts on purchase price, things to watch out for, and any recommended mods/upgrades.
