During an ice storm in mid-November a huge oak limb fell on the cab of my 2005 Tacoma and totaled it. Of course, I cancelled the comprehensive insurance just a couple months ago, so any repairs were going to be out of pocket. The collision center had the estimate on repair at $9600 and counting, so my next call was to the salvage company. They offered me $3000 (ouch!!!), and I didn't have many other options. I sold my Taco.
A local guy advertised his 2001 Tundra on craigslist for $3500, so I had to look at it. It wasn't in bad shape - a few dings and a little rust over the rear wheel. My biggest hesitation was the 335,000 miles on it. I bought it for $3000, and now I have a Toyota truck again!!!.
The previous owner's done pretty good at keeping up with PM like oil changes, timing belt, brakes, etc. It's giving me codes for the O2 sensors before the catalytic converter, so I'll need to check that out. I put a soft Tonno Fold cover over the bed, but other than that, I'm just gonna have to learn to love this old truck.
I'll be looking here for advise on taking care of my Gen 1 Tundra.EwJ1YJZyiF5oBeGnpkTn3wxtQwl0frTzK5zzokH4_f54d99581dafb0d55680e09900f9d276b7bcb5cd.jpg

If it doesn't nickel and dime you the first year because of little things needing replacement due to high mileage, you will love it. Small enough to go anywhere + V8. You won't go back to a Taco even if one comes along you can afford.

    Welcome from SoCal!
