    I posted in the Gen2 forum on a 2008 with an OK frame, but I'm also looking at a 2014 TRD OR.

    I got a chance to see photos of it before I see it in person, and the frame is near perfect. Been Fluid Filmed yearly. Recently had some belts and small maintenance done to it as well. Completely stock truck, and the body has no rust as far as I can tell. Owner has had it for the last few years and is looking to sell for 18K. I'm hoping to talk him down some, but needed to know if 180k miles is high for that price in the first place.

    I know the market isn't rational, and me being in New England limits me to slim pickings when my wife doesn't trust me buying sight unseen over the internet.

    Maintenance history is what you need to look for...what's been done? Fluids swapped, regular oil changes, functioning 4wd, no leaking heads (cam tower leaks)...is it lifted? That's some miles so offer him $15k and state you need to spend $2k on Maintenance stuff...

    Supposedly has kept up with maintenance, but I have some questions to ask and things to look over in person. 15K sounds good to me, as that's what I'm more comfortable with considering the mileage.

    My list so far has:

    * Cam tower
    * Trans fluid
    * 4WD system
    * Front diff noise if any
    * If tensioner was replaced with the belts with recent maint
    * Radiator/tstat service in past considering the age

    At what mileage do you not consider a Tundra (assuming maintenance is kept up with).

    Fluid film yearly, and photos seem to back that up.

    Another frame shot

    Shocks and greaseable leaf spring shackles put in 2+ years ago.

    Fluids replaced per maintenance intervals. Belts all replaced this past year with idler pulley and belt tensioner. Rear drivers bearing replaced 1-2 years ago. Seems like it's in great shape. I just need to verify in person and see if I can talk him down some.

    If that truck is in cali, it will go for 20-23k, but with the insane price and good maintenance , I think it will go for 28-30k.

    I went and looked at it. Car is really great mechanically and structurally. My only knock on it is the interior has been daily driven with kids as well. Nothing a great detail couldn't spruce up, but that's that.

    * Cam tower - NO LEAK
    * Trans fluid - SERVICED at 120kish
    * 4WD system - FULLY FUNCTIONAL AND USED REGULARLY. Guy even reminded me to not turn too sharp while it was engaged, so you know he used it properly.
    * Front diff noise if any - SMOOTH, NO NOISE.
    * If tensioner was replaced with the belts with recent maint - REPLACED
    * Radiator/tstat service in past considering the age - PREV OWNER REPLACED

    I'm thinking of going with this Tundra over a 2007 Gen2 Taco with about 70k fewer miles (but would cost me 5000 fewer dollars). Tell me I'm not crazy for getting this Tundra. It drives so nice, and it's been very, very well maintained.

    If it feels right, do it... everything is bigger with the tundra vs tacoma... including your smile!! And you will only lose about 1mpg worth a tundra over the taco...do it for America!

    *sorry, I've been drinking and being sunburnt :monocle:

    Remember to crawl under & check bed mounts for rust. These trucks rust from the bottom up in the bed area & can be difficult to identify by just looking at the bed. Sounds like a decent deal.
    Recently sold my 2008 CrewMax for 15k & it had 208k in it & was meticulously maintained.

    Just to update. I bought the truck. Everything checked out. All that's needed is an oil change coming up in a few hundred miles.

    Talked him down to $15k

    I just need to detail the interior, and we're good to renovate, landscape, and shuttle the kids to the beach.
