New member from TX 2006 Tundra 8 ft bed

    1) Bought with 225k miles on it, a Westin bullnose bumper, and OEM tundra steps 2) Current Mileage 238k Mods: 1) Dirty Deeds BA Mufflers 8 inch with resonator (as of Feb 2021) - Had the 10 inch with resonator - Prefer the 10 inch without resonator - deeper sound hear it more in the cab 2.) Ranch Hand Summit Front Bumper/Guard 3) Ranch Hand Summit Bumper 4) Billstein 5100s all around 5) TRD front and rear sway bars 6.) Rough Country wheel to wheel steps 7) Pioneer 8400 NEX Wireless ApplePlay 8) Backup Camera: e-raptor 9) LED white lights replaced in headlights, fog lights, inside cabin, and exterior lights 10) Linex (unbranded by Central Texas Truck Coatings) 11) OEM Toyota side panels and generic panel on tailgate Maintenance/Repairs: 1) Valve covers, belt tensioner, alternator belt - $415 2) Evaporation fuel canister and filter replacment $1547 *This was a Toyota TSB for 07-08 AFAIK. Toyota covered in first 3 years of ownership. Mine failed after 13 years of daily regular driving use. Not bad at all. 3) Pioneer Unit - had to ship to Pioneer to replace Output IC - $45 (shipping) free under 1 year warranty fix 4) Pioneer Unit - Electrical feed back coming through speakers when accelerating. Fix was to check all wiring/tighten up/ make connections good again $42. 5.) Rear passenger door actuator replaced. Part was $287 with tax on ebay from Toyota dealer free shipping. 6.) Rack and Pinion, tow mirrors, shocks install, lifetime alignment - $1884.36
    I bought my first truck a 2006 Tundra base model 8 ft. bed a few weeks ago with 192k miles on it. The goal is to keep it forever and run it for 300k+ :D I learned this year and model is a gem in the sense that it's hard to find this 8 ft body style with the box style and the new engine. I'm coming from a 2012 Toyota Camry SE V6.

    It's become a fun restoration project. The 8 ft. utility is fricken awesome. The goal was to stay way under budget, keep the payment low, and insurance payment low without having buyer's remorse. I pretty much nailed it for my current situation.

    It was owned by a business with some decals, dents on the bumpers, and scratches here and there around the body. The first day I got it Discount Tire broke one of the studs and ran over one of my hub caps -- lol. They credited me two tires for free and are replacing all four original hub caps, which are pretty cool looking.

    Work Done:
    1. boot and pinion, valve gasket covers replaced, new spark plugs, inner tie rod each, intake manifold gasket, throttlebod&/or Gasket.
    2. New tires, balanced, and alignment.
    3. Entire body buffed to remove decal imprints and shine it up
    4. Bedliner had rust damage pretty bad with some holes. The holes undernearth the bed did not show signs of rust spreading. Used Rust Converter, set for 48 hours, applied aluminum tape over the holes and mechanics jelly underneath holes, then sprayed bed with Line-X. $816 with life-time warranty transferrable state to state.
    5. Tint Job being done next Friday

    Work Planned:
    1. Get body repainted Silver. Should look pretty cool with the dark gray bumpers.
    2. Replace bumpers
    3. Remove dents (if possible)
    4. Some windshield repair a couple nicks in there.

    Heh, I love the silver paint job on my camry. It'll look sharp with the silver, dark gray bumpers, black step rails or runners, and original black Toyota black hub caps.

    At first I didn't like the old school grill and lights, but they've grown on my a lot. I like the old look.

    The one on the right if my mechanic can find it. I'm open to options whatever he can get through his vendors.

    I'm real interested in finding 2006 original parts from other people like for the fender and bumper for example. I had to call Toyota after calling 4 other parts shops, only 1 could help me find a under the rails bedliner. Plus meeting other Tundra enthusiasts is just plain fun. Lot of people I know around here drive American trucks.

    @Roman is our oem parts guy on the forum. Nice guy and can find almost everything you need that’s oem, as long as it’s still made.

    1) Bought with 225k miles on it, a Westin bullnose bumper, and OEM tundra steps 2) Current Mileage 238k Mods: 1) Dirty Deeds BA Mufflers 8 inch with resonator (as of Feb 2021) - Had the 10 inch with resonator - Prefer the 10 inch without resonator - deeper sound hear it more in the cab 2.) Ranch Hand Summit Front Bumper/Guard 3) Ranch Hand Summit Bumper 4) Billstein 5100s all around 5) TRD front and rear sway bars 6.) Rough Country wheel to wheel steps 7) Pioneer 8400 NEX Wireless ApplePlay 8) Backup Camera: e-raptor 9) LED white lights replaced in headlights, fog lights, inside cabin, and exterior lights 10) Linex (unbranded by Central Texas Truck Coatings) 11) OEM Toyota side panels and generic panel on tailgate Maintenance/Repairs: 1) Valve covers, belt tensioner, alternator belt - $415 2) Evaporation fuel canister and filter replacment $1547 *This was a Toyota TSB for 07-08 AFAIK. Toyota covered in first 3 years of ownership. Mine failed after 13 years of daily regular driving use. Not bad at all. 3) Pioneer Unit - had to ship to Pioneer to replace Output IC - $45 (shipping) free under 1 year warranty fix 4) Pioneer Unit - Electrical feed back coming through speakers when accelerating. Fix was to check all wiring/tighten up/ make connections good again $42. 5.) Rear passenger door actuator replaced. Part was $287 with tax on ebay from Toyota dealer free shipping. 6.) Rack and Pinion, tow mirrors, shocks install, lifetime alignment - $1884.36

    I finally got the hub caps from Toyota shipped to discount tire. The first morning I bought the truck discount tire literally broke two of my hubcaps. I talked them into replacing all 4 after jumping through hoops for over a month trying to get these hub caps. $96 a piece! Like gold they are.

    Next on the list is to get the rear tail light on the right replaced.
