    Hi everyone,

I'm Christian. I live in Laguna with my wife and son, surf all the time, fish a lot, and practice law to pay the bills.

Yesterday, I bought a brand new 2017 Crewmax SR5 in Quicksand from Carlsbad Toyota (got a scorcher of a deal). Admittedly, she's a bit of a plain bagel right now, and I want to make her in my vision.

I'm not much up on Toyota modifications as I have mostly wrenched on older stuff ('67 benz SL, '71Mach One, '74 VW bus, a couple 50s Chris Crafts, 31' Bertram to name a few projects) so please forgive me for being green.

I am looking to do my grill to match TRD Pro, rims/tires, spray in liner, black emblems, steps, maybe a light bar, maybe ARB bumpers down the road. Anybody with recommendations for me in Orange County would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks!
    CR

Well, if you're a Lagunatic with some classic Chris Crafts, then you're okay by me. I used to teach at Laguna Sea Sports and I was always a better body surfer than a surfer. Also figured that the body surfing helped more with the photography. Summer souths that gave red flag days at Main Beach or big days at the south end of Strands were always my favorite.

    Slavin_090828_3295.jpg

Since you're a surfer and you didn't buy a white truck, I'll let you stay. Keep your sarcasm/bs meter tuned high and you'll be okay.

Thank you sir! My BS/Sarcasm meter are always on! I mostly surf at strands and in San Clemente and would love to see some of your work. I'm starting to get into body surfing mostly because fins are a lot easier to lug down the beach than a board with the kiddo. I'm excited to build out the new beast! I will be posting pictures with my progress, first up, grill and hood bulge, already found @Roman link to what I need! Yewwww!

Welcome from the IE! I did the same with my 2015. Looked the same as yours, only silver. I installed Ironcross Automotive steps, I liked these because they are low profile(don't hang down below the frame rails). Found TRD rims with new tires on them on Craigslist. I also added a Bakflip MX4 bed cover. So it looks the way I want it. I would like to do the Pro Grill, maybe later. I have a big family, so I choose my battles wisely. Take your time and have fun making it what you want. ;)

Welcome from TN! Man, surfing brings me back to my days of skateboarding! I lived in Louisiana, so only surfing I got in was asphalt based! LOL

As for blacking out emblems, easy way to do it is get some metallic spray paint, remove emblems and hit 'em up with the paint, then remount!

Chrome delete (wrapping/powder coat) the bumper ends would look legit on that color!

And don't forget the 3/1 lift! Toytec is a solid vendor to take advantage of!

If you ever get a chance look up @TundraTex and get a FRAC harness. It’s one of the best mod i have done for my Tundra.

    Hello!

I have to admit that I am a frequent viewer on Tacoma World, but I have found myself on this page because I finally took my two boys, one who is 2.5 yrs, and the other who is 5 weeks(I only took his car seat) to the dealer this afternoon. My cough cough, Civic, it starting to grow too small now. The mrs. loosened the rope a little bit and said go for it. She's actually pretty on board with a new truck. Anyways, I had my heart set on a Tacoma since...forever. Get to the point Matt, I am now looking at Tundras bc they rock and have the ability to fit a growing family and haul stuff. Are there any family men, or women, out there that would recommend the Crew Max over the Standard Bed? I like the CM but also like the price point on the SB. Basically, I was hoping I get an overwhelming consensus for me to get the CM so the mrs. can see that..ha. No, but really, can I have some honest opinions? Thank you for your time btw.

Lastly, I like options, and literally just saw the rear window go down all the way and lost it!!! What lowest model can I get that on? Seriously ran out of the room and almost started driving back to the dealer just then.

    -Matt
