Hi folks, I'm a veteran and retired law enforcement officer, now running a small ranch in Colorado. My truck is an '01 Tundra Limited with just under 300k. It's a ranch truck (read beat half to death paint and body-wise), but is generally mechanically pretty sound. The engine is great! I'm religious about oil changes and tire rotations on the 5k mark, and I've been using a qt of Lucas oil stabilizer with every change since 60k. It doesn't burn a drop between changes. I've had a dozen people tell me it's the regular changes and not the Lucas, but for about 20 years here I was off the grid and generated my own power, and my generator motors TRIPLED in MTBF when I started using the Lucas... so I'm sold. I had the tranny rebuilt at 230k and replaced one intake manifold (cracked), and have to do it again. Seems to be a common problem from what I hear. Otherwise, brake pads, tires, a battery, a front half shaft, one set of shocks and a new rack and pinion, a set of plugs, new fuel pump and filter (and clean out the tank), new timing belts and water pumps every 90k and that's it. And like I said it's now my ranch work truck and I treat her badly but can't seem to kill her, and plan to keep her 'til she's a grease spot in the driveway. Next project: Install an XM ready Bluetooth Head Set.
