    Hi all,

I'm new here and I have a specific situation where some advice could be very helpful to me.
Basically I need some advice on how to select a used Tundra to buy.

I currently reside in central NY but am planning on moving to Maine in the next few months. For that move I'll need a truck to tow my stuff. A Tacoma could probably handle it but if I get a Tundra I'll never need a bigger truck than that. It'll have way more space for hauling gear and supplies. Another reason I prefer the Tundra over the Tacoma is that I really like the feel of riding in a full size truck.

I've done some research and it seems like I should get a 2013 or later Tundra. The 2011 and 2012 Tundras had problems with the secondary air pumps. And since I'm in a part of the country that rains and snows a lot any Tundra from those years that I purchase around this area would likely have damaged pumps eventually leading to an expensive failure. I'm open to the possibility of purchasing one from out of state and paying for it to be delivered. Perhaps getting a Tundra from a dry state like Utah or Nevada would be best although the shipping would be expensive.

I'm curious to hear recommendations for purchasing a used Tundra. Is there specific years to avoid that come after the years I mentioned? I'd like to spend around 25k USD or less if possible so I won't even try to get one that's too new because it would likely be way above my budget. Am I being too cheap? Should I spend 30k or more on a used Tundra? I actually do have the cash money but was trying to be thrifty.

Obviously I need a 4wd Tundra for driving in the snow and possibly off road when I buy some land. Anyway I see that the most basic 2021 Tundra MSRP is $38,195. So it seems that if I get a used Tundra that has under 80k miles on it I could probably save 10 or 15 grand. I got money but I imagine that I would really feel the pain if I bought a brand new one because that's a quite a bit more expensive.

    What do you think?

    Cheers,
    Windfall

Welcome from neighbor. What part of NY?

Make sure you read the cam tower thread.

Check any used one for cam tower leaks.

If you do decide on new, 2021 is the last year for the V8.

I'm in Hamilton, Madison county. Okay thanks, I'll check out the cam tower thread.

Is 2021 is the last year for the V8, then what comes next?

Welcome from Corning! Rumor is a twin turbo V6 coming next. Anything over 2016 I would buy new because the prices right now are about the same haha. Also another thing to look at is the gas tank size. I wouldn’t buy a tundra if it didn’t have 38 gallon tank
