Ok, I've scoured the forums and I'm sure there are a million more posts I haven't seen. But I want a new head unit. The more I look around, the more uncertain I become of what I want. At first, I was thinking of a nice Kenwood unit with around 7" screen size (something like the Kenwood Excelon DMX908S). But the more I see the set ups of @OGDark Knight and @panicman the more I want something like that. The rub is that it about twice as expensive currently for the pioneer set up. Is the extra cost worth it for a larger screen and a better look? Opinions welcome.

Depends on what you’re looking for. I’ve had a 7” Kenwood and now run the 11” Alpine. Big 11” display is really nice but it does move/bounce and squeak where the in dash 7” was silent.

I have a 10" display and zero squeaks or movement. What dash kit did you use and how many screws hold your HU to it?

I tried Metra and Scoshe - the latter being better. 4 screws hold the HU to the surround. The noise seems to generate where the screen meets the HU - not associated with the dash kit.

I know I’m not alone in this - right @Azblue

Been going down this rabbit hole myself.

I find the big screen too much of a distraction.

Maybe some strategically placed double sided tape will help

So did you find the large display worth it? Were you dissatisfied with the kenwood?

I got an incredible deal on the 11” thanks to Best Buy and @BillyB

I was satisfied with the Kenwood. The big screen comes in really handy every now and then but day to day the Kenwood is just as good without the squeak.

Decided to pull the trigger on the Kenwood DMX1057XR. I'll update as it comes.

I got the dnr1007xr. Don’t care what anyone says that big screen is perfect. I guess it could be a distraction but not sure how. I think it’s less of a distraction because everything is bigger and easier to mess with. The double donuts like the factory are ok but that big screen is very nice and bright. But we all have our opinions. Also, I need to get glasses but now that I have this I can see the radio fine, it’s just seeing out the windshield is the issue now.
