Hey all! Currently in the market for a Tundra and have a couple to test drive this coming weekend. I’m currently in a 16’ Off-road Tacoma DCLB and love the truck but want more space and power. I have one Tundra that I’m particularly interested in. 18’ SR5 Off-road with 19k miles. It’s a one owner and looks to be a very well maintained truck. Dealer is asking $37k, what would be a good offer price for the truck? I’m leaning toward $34-34500. Thanks for any input advice and hope to join the forums officially soon!

    Welcome from TX!

The higher you offer the higher they counter.....

Price it out on NADA and KBB to get accurate value. The camper shell is easy $2k if buying for another another Tundra.

I agree, KBB excellent trade in is $33,600 to $36500 and that shell is super nice. One reason I’m wanting that so I don’t have to purchase in the future lol

You're looking at the correct color. Can't be of too much assistance, but I used TrueCar and got a bunch of estimates, then played the dealerships against each other. Also acted like I didn't want it. Works for car shopping and sometimes women. A friend tried to set me up with her coworker and gave me her telephone number. I put it in my wallet and waited two years before I called her. She married me. Swear to christ. (theres more to that story, but it doesn't sound as cool)

Don't act like you want the camper shell. They will want to add value withit. Act like you will just take it off, no value to you. Act like they can remove for all you care. $100 says they won't remove it.

When I traded in my 02 Tundra they made me take the ARE top off it. They didn't want it.

Various reasons life happens; impulse buys that were not ideal or practical, shedding debt., job/family change, fuel mileage, life change - divorce or expecting and so on....

Many number of reasons but do not think enough to not consider purchasing.

Yeah I get that... But twice on the same truck seems unusual at best. Just something I would consider when examining the truck.

Either way, I'd probably buy the extended Toyota warranty.

Whole lots of opinions on EW's; some for, some against, and some for wait till closer to the 3/36 mark.

Welcome from San Diego. Good luck with the negotiations. Pick a price you are willing to pay and stick to it.. if not, walk away. Its a used truck, they want to sell it.

You should tell them you’ve had terrible experiences with Leer caps and it just puts a bitter taste in your mouth to have to fork out that kind of money for something that will leak, peel and come apart. It’s a nice looking truck and would say that $2k is an accurate number if you were to buy the shell retail. Their first offer is never their best, just remember that and don’t be afraid to walk away.
