Hello everyone, Im new here with a 1st Gen Sequoia 2002 2WD, from what I understand, many of the mechanical components are the same as the Tundra so I decided to join this site. A few questions from the gurus here involving fluid changes. I want to replace the transfer case and differential and transmission fluids. Can you guys recommend which types and how much I will need for a 2002? I've seen the repair manuals and they show both a tundra and sequoia so I hope I can get that good info here. Any chance someone can email a repair manual if available? Thanks for the help!

I can save you some time by mentioning that you don’t have a transfer case if you have a 2wd. This post will help you with the type and amount for the rear diff and trans. :

Thank you all. Some of the things here seem to be Tundra specific, are the fluid types and amounts identical to a sequoia?

I’m 99.37% sure they’re the same. Maybe @15whtrd can confirm with his 1st gen giant tree.

I couldn’t give you 100% on that but it seems the rear end is the same except for the disc brakes and suspension set up. If I had a first GEN tundra I could tell him more. I would say he needs to confirm whether he has a limited slip or not. When in doubt I have brought my Vin on vehicles to the dealer to find out specifically what I need. Or it should be in the manual. Also isn’t there a Vin look up website where you could find out everything you need?

You can put a sequoia rear axle under a 1st gen so I'd assume they're the same, except for the previously mentioned items.

Some guides suggest using 75W140 synthetic for the rear diff and other suggest using 75W90. I know there isnt a huge difference between the 2. I dont think my year offered the towing version, what do you guys think?

One other question, I have an on and off switch on the right of my dash next to the rear window switch. What does this turn on and off? Does the aux 3.5mm port allow you to play music from your phone? Not really sure what it does.

Welcome from East Tennessee.I use royal purple differential fluid and royal purple dexron 2 transmission fluid. The differential fluid has the limited slip additive already in it and both are full synthetic. Be sure to change the transmission filter also.It great stuff because I have over 382,000 miles and I just changed the rear end 6 months ago and I'm not easy on the old girl!!
