I'm looking for options with rims. I've decided to go with steel rims because a few reasons.
-steel is about $90 while alloy is $280+ per rim
-damaged alloy cracks easier where as steel will bend, just bend it back, and if replacement needed, its about $90 and not $280+ per rim
-from what I've seen, weight isn't a big issue and if fuel mileage is an issue, then you probably don't want a truck. Even still the weight isn't much considering the tire is most of the mass.
But I cant find any steel rims that aren't oem steel or spare tire rims.
Looking for help and not opposed to having my mind changed.[IMG][IMG]

    Too many, but not enough....
I am pretty much in the same boat as you. I decided to stick with my steel SR5 wheels for pretty much the same reasons. They dont look half bad with a white truck and I didnt want to spend 2k on new rims only to have to worry about hurting them when I go offroading. With steelies, i can just trash em, not worry about them breaking, and replace them for less than $100 bucks at anytime. Plus, functionally, new rims really dont do much unless you are doing some crazy suspension work. Steelies also draw less attention to the truck in general.

Welcome from LA (Lower Alabama)! Do you do much offroading around rocks? I would think that would be the biggest risk to rims. We don't have much rocky offroading down here, and I have had nothing but alloy wheels for over 20 years with no issues. I can't remember what I had before that, but it wasn't a truck I was driving then anyway.

    Alot of them
Many of the local aftermarket wheel shops or lift shops will have these as take-offs from time to time.

I went with the black spares and haven't regretted it. As you mentioned, they are inexpensive, so if I ever want to change it up and go with something different I haven't lost much.

The steel 18 hole wheel is about 8lbs heavier than the stock Toyota 18" alloy wheel. That's a significant amount of rotating weight, especially if you change to heavier tires too. I was all set to order 4 of the steelies until I weighed them

Did you notice any change in MPG or driving characteristics? What wheels did you have before?

Depends on which alloy wheel. My steelies are over 5lbs lighter than the 20" Platinum wheels it came with.

I was getting 14.5 mpg (mixed city highway) with stock Platinum configuration. Now I'm getting 13 mpg with 2.5" lift, 34" e-rated Cooper ATs on the steelies, and about 500+ pounds in added payload with camper shell and Decked.

Yeah the spare has a sticker on the wheel that states such, but that is due to the tire’s temporary rating I believe.

These wheels are the same spec as the original 2nd gen SR Tundra’s steel wheel.

A bit of research has revealed to me, that a website based out of Australia has a steel rim with the same bolt pattern and at 18 inches and looks to be a few more sizes as well. I'm not sure what it will take to get it imported but I wanted to toss the idea out there for anyone who is looking like I am.
Thank you all for the help and ideas. I'm starting to agree, the steel spares don't look half bad and might end up going for that if importing is too much.

Looking at that site, and searching by the 5x150 bolt pattern, it looks like there are only 2 sizes available…. the 17” and 18” which both have a 30 offset.

This is mine with stock spare steelies….

What is the offset of the steel spares? Do you use wheel spacers if more positive than stock rims?

Same as stock alloy wheels. I used 1.25" spacers to get the 285mm wide tires perfectly flush with fenders.

    Years 2007 - 2021 is 5x150mm or 5.91" bolt pattern
Years (dawn of time) - 2006 and 2022 is 6x139.7mm or 6x5.5″ bolt pattern

Bolt patterns by year in case anyone is curious.

I also found a "fully DOT compliant." set of Alloy bead locks. This set does fit New and Old gen tundras.
    https://www.iconvehicledynamics.com/wheel/15050/icon-alloys-rebound-pro/?finishID=1358

Thank you for the info. It has been vary helpful.

Ill post a pic of the before and after here soon of what I decide on after I get up enough funds.

It's been a while but I bit the bullet. Turns out if I was gona import the rims from Australia, they're not hubcentric so ya there are truly no other steel rim options for the tundra 5x150 bolt pattern. My set up is 34in wildpeaks on the oem steelies powdercoated architecture Bronze. I also have a 2.5 in lift. If I'm gona go up in tire size I need at least 0 offset so the tire doesnt rub the upper control arm but the oem rim is positive 20 and I won't do spacers. Next and possibly last option apart from having 0 offset steelies custom made for me is to custom make some myself. Cut out and flip the flange, weld it in backwards. Plug the valve stem and drill another on the other side of the rim. Then while you have the welder out drill out some holes and weld on some threaded bungs like the new icon bead lock technology. This moves the offset more negative but I have a feeling that I'd appreciate a modicum of precision considering 35s are heavy and I don't need the wheel welded together sideways making it vibrate like jeep death wobble.

Anyone have any ideas to allow steel rims on a tundra without using spacers while also being able to have a larger tire?

I've also painted that rear hub black so it's not an eye sore. I'll post a new picture when have one.
