I'm thinking about purchasing a 2008 Base Model 2WD Tundra and the price is right. It has some issues that I think I can handle myself. Any advice is greatly appreciated.

Not really sure yet. On test drive, there was some chop in the steering wheel at highway speed. It felt like the tires were out of balance. Poor trucks wheels are about rusted away and have seen better days. I'll probably find some new wheels online then mount & balance the tires on it now since they still look good to go. Brakes locked up well and the truck didn't wander much while driving...I'm guessing alignment will be fine for now. There were no records of any maintenance and since the truck is at 135,000 miles. I'm guessing it needs a full tune-up and all fluid changes. The frame had the rust treatment completed by the dealer recently but everything else looks rough and rusty underneath. A little surface rust under tailgate and drivers rear panel right above the tire.

This may seem dumb but when I was under the truck, the frame had a wet & greasy look and feel to it when I rubbed my fingers on the frame itself. I only touched approximately 1' of the frame and it felt smooth beneath the coating the best I could tell.

Buy it from a non salt belt state. I wouldn't buy something from MN, WI,N IA due to salting roads.

Unless it's just a summer truck
