Removing all 5" gutters and adding 6" commerical gutters. If you build and you get a fair amount of rain...do 6" gutters.
Naturally the miters still need install, the guys are making great progress. Excellent two man team.

Yes except where corner miters join the the long runs. Every 18" gutter hangars brackets screwed on not nailed just in case a minor fall adjustment is needed later.. Also proper fall measured to each down spout. These guys are good. I keep them supplied with gator aid and leave them alone, I never liked anyone looking over my shoulder while working... and so I let em work.

I tend to do the same. Now with those larger gutters, more rain water collection for when SHTF

    Thanks!
Depends on your roof pitch, rain fall, how your property is graded. All rain from my gutters runs off the ridge out of the lawn bubblers. Just need to keep water flow far away from my basement. So far so good!

I have seamless 5in gutters with 3x4 downspouts, go big on the downspouts and you will move more water out of the gutters.

Yes, same 3x4" down spouts here, but commerical 6" hold a lot more water and move a lot more water than 5", and look much better INMHO. The 5" gutters look small compared to the new 6" seamless. FWIW..

New 6" on left side of roof line, "V .............................5" on far right gable which will be replaced tomorrow.

yeah you can tell the difference in size. The builder on my house did a crap job grading the back yard. I dealt with several erosion/runoff issues in the back yard since buying it. Ended up putting in sod to control the mud and runoff issues. Everything runs downhill from my neighbors 2 houses up. I've still got some more work to do.

I have to ask, how does the 6" gutters handle heavy snow?

On my next home, I will have at least 5" gutters, snow/leaf covers.

Your home looks outstanding! Gutters look good as well. :D

Thank you for the kind words Chris. I work hard at keeping it well maintained. No real issues with snow, we get very little here. Maybe 5-6" a year and it melts within a day or two. 6" gutters are used a lot on commerical buildings but becoming more comon with home owners. I only upgraded because of having a full basement and my roof pitch.
The installation of strong solid gutter hangers (secured using screws not nails) 18-24" apart is probably the most important part besides proper fall into the 3x4" down spout along with proper yard grading. We live farily high on a ridge and once the water leaves the yard "bubblers" it rolls down hill fast. A yard bubbler is where the downspout meets a 5-6" drain pipe buried in the yard and the pipe runs 8-10' out away from my home into the yard where the bubbler pops up and waters the yard from the pressure of the falling water. This helps to keep the water moving away from our home and waters the yard. Simple and pretty cool.

We don't have any large tall trees looming over or around our home so no leaf guards.

i've been debating on installing those. do those require proper grading to work? Do you have to be cautious running a lawn mower around them?

They do work best when you bury the pipe out to an area in your yard with a slope or fall away from your foundation. So yes, water needs a little slope or fall away. Here is a pic for ref:

And yes you need to just weed wack the grass around the bubbler and not run the mower over the bubbler. It will get sucked up and destroy the bubbler lid, don't ask how I know lol. A general rule of thumb is water always seeks its own level. Most wet basements are due to clogged gutters or poor grading drainage away from a home.

I chose this basement building site knowing I could manage the water away with its gentle slope. I only have bubblers on three down spouts shooting out onto my sod on corner down spouts. I installed them 9 yrs ago when we built. They do require annual checking to make sure they are running clear and or not clogged. The fall and gravity flowing force of the water usually keeps them pretty clean.
One other important note, try not to make your run of buried pipe from the downspout too long. 6'-10' max IMO. This will help with keeping debris rolling out of the bubbler. If you get a clog, it's a whole lot easier to clean out. Some run the pipe out to the woods 30', nah..not necessary, it will get to the bottom of the hill on its own. I prefer the water on my sod.
