You guys see this yet? I hate the company behind this but it is pretty cool. If anyone else makes a system like this I'd take a closer look. Been thinking about getting a system like this that I can rock out loud when i want to but close it up for longer trips. I have the BAM 8" but sometimes I want more and less lol.

I did this on my 2014 Silverado. Kept stock muffler, put the metric dump right before it. Sounded completely stock, then open it up and it sounded bad ass. I used a cheap eBay electric cutout and it lasted 4 years until I got rid of the truck.

I've thought of doing cut outs myself but wouldn't spend the money on a whole system for a part I can pretty much diy.

Curious why you hate Vivid Racing. I'm pretty out of the loop but if there's a reason to avoid them I'm interested to hear.

Anytime you dump the exhaust befor the axle, you lose a ton of low end torque. We used to build cut our systems. They’re not worth the sound for the big loss in performance so we stopped.

Just search for VR in the search bar here and you will see many accounts of their poor service. I dealt with the owner privately and will just say I walked away from spending a lot of money.

You are definitely the expert. Are we talking a lot of power loss? I would think in a touring mode/ closed position some loss of power would be OK. Then open it up for sport mode/ open position. Aren't these the same kind of systems they put in porsche and vettes ? Is there another way to do it?

On the sports cars you mention, it’s still going thru the entire exhaust but bypassing muffler at the end.

from the example of what these guys tried to spam onto my Facebook tundratuning group the other day, it dumps before the rear axle.

we abandoned that sort of system years ago due to low end torque loss. And failure of every single brand of cut outs.

Electrical cutouts will ultimately fail but it’s a nice change of tone if you’re looking for a cool cold start.
