Howdy, new Tundra fan from Wisco, so far have only test driven a '15 Limited and the hunt starts for the purchase. Here for research and recon, thank you for the excellent format.

Welcome from S.W. Oregon, is salt used on the roads where you live? Highway department here in Oregon is talking about using it which I don't like hearing, especially remembering what cars looked like when I was in an Air Force tech school in Rantoul, Illinois, back in the early 1960's, new cars with so much rust that the headlights were falling out.

Yes, and more municipalities are going further into the stupid of salt, with lower budgets and being lazy; salt brine application pre-storms. Yes, you have the salt already liquified for better penetration into your vehicles cracks and crevices.

My primary winter vehicle is a TDI Beetle with snow tires, and a mild lift on for clearance; Germans have excellent anti-rust builds. Obviously the Beetle doesn't pull the trailer w/dirt bikes very well, so...

In travels out west/NW I noticed MANY years ago that sand was smartly used for winter traction and storm times, these MW folks just love salting.

I was searching Sequoias but then noticed the frame issues up to the '08s, and decided to just go ahead and buy my last/2nd to last truck for my lifetime. That salt has eaten up my '99 F250, and it is time.

BTW-in testing the '15 LTD I noticed that the welds on the frame were rusty at just 38K miles on that unit, any known issues similar to the early Gen 1 stuff?
